Re: Yosef Question

A strategy for charitable giving under the new tax plan is to "bunch" your donations every other year. For example, I went ahead and paid my 2018 Yosef donation (and some other donations that I regularly make) in full last month, in 2017, so they're deductible since I itemize. Now, in 2018, with the...

Re: APP gets honorable mention at coin toss

That was unexpected and exciting in that setting! Mack Brown is a class act and I love his association with App. I was there during his short tenure in Boone...never faulted him for it but hated it when he left.

Only 238 days until 9-1-18! Only 138 days until the 100 day countdown begins!
Love it...we're counting down the days to the "official" countdown to the season!

As has been the case the past few years I believe it is the beginning of March. We will only have one bye this year.
Thanks. I'm afraid my wife is going to want to book some travel for the Fall way before early March...going to have to come up with a plan.

Re: 2018 Football Schedule?

At least if we're playing an FCS, this year's is an in-state school. I remember playing at G-W in 2006. The sun was in the away side's eyes the entire first half. Peacock got lifted to the top of the cheerleader pyramid and waived a flag. Imagine Everts doing that. I was at that game also and went ...

2018 Football Schedule?

Has this been released yet? We're making travel plans for the year and I really need to know the schedule so we can plan around games. I see the 4 non-conference games in Sept. but really need the others. Does anyone know when it'll be released? I can't slow-roll my wife's trip planning indefinitely.

Re: SBC Bowl Games

On a related note. The state of North Carolina is 5 - 0 in bowl games. NC A&T, App, Duke, Wake, and NC State all won their bowl games. Pretty impressive.

Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007 vs 2017 - This is disappointing

Excluding Miami and Wake, 5 of our top 8 most attended games ever were against Elon, Western Carolina (2 different games), Wofford, and Ga Southern. All of those games were north of 30K in attendance and there were many attending from the visiting schools. My memories of the Furman, ETSU, Wofford, a...

Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007 vs 2017 - This is disappointing

If we played a SoCon/FCS schedule attendance would be worse. You can’t combine weaker opponents AND easier TV access and expect more butts in the seats. Just keep winning and as rivalries develop more people will come. I'm not, and I'm guessing no one is, suggesting playing a SoCon/FCS schedule. Th...

Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007 vs 2017 - This is disappointing

Here is what I have been looking at (avg attendance by season). Not a whole lot of fluctuation from regional to the sunbelt. It shows me, given outside of a couple historic rivals (western/gaso) the attendance game to game are Apps. Again, don’t think the other SoCon schools contributed much at all...

Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007 vs 2017 - This is disappointing

Top 10 attended games at The Rock, the Coastal game this year is the only Sun Belt affiliated game. The Sun Belt teams (Ga Southern excluded) bring almost zero people to Boone, and many of our fans have no connection with those teams. So I'd say that although regional teams don't "make our attendanc...

Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007 vs 2017 - This is disappointing

From AppState Sports: The season record of 26,358 occurred in 2012. The season averages started to climb during App State's run to three straight FCS national titles, jumping from 17,917 in 2005 to 20,546 in 2006 and 24,219 in 2007. The Mountaineers have averaged at least 21,459 (2015 avg) fans per...

Re: QB next year

Satt will start with the best QB he sees as of Sept 1st, but that could be someone else by Oct 1st. I think you have to be careful not to destroy a kid's confidence by putting him in too early against a team like Penn State. In addition to Thomas, Huesman, and Derrick there's also the kid from Reids...

Re: SoMiss vs FSU

I don't know, if we hold onto Satterfield I feel like we're going to be competitive even with losing Woody and Sloan. The biggest question marks are QB1 and the O-line. With the running backs we have, along with the receiving corps, the new QB will have a lot of help and have a chance to develop ass...

Trickle that money down my way Satt (pause)
LOL...keep in mind that nearly half of that goes to the federal and state governments in taxes of one form or another...so he doesn't even see a lot of that compensation.

Re: Satterfield bonus pay

I mean, these contracts are publicly available. http://chancellor.appstate.edu/bot/_documents/board-of-trustees-minutes-2017-04-24.pdf I like the concept of the monthly retention bonus, if he's here he gets it, if he leaves he doesn't. Is that common for college football coaches? I'd guess it is. A...

Over the last 44 games Boise St. 34-10 6-3 vs P5 Going through some other usual suspects no one has a run even close to that for 44 games except us. Will say that their p5 wins are impressive but makes you wonder about the strength of the PAC 12 since Boise beats them pretty consistently. Thanks! N...
