Re: Birmingham Bowl
Taylor said “I never thought we’d be punished for being in a bowl game by being leveraged …”. Sad times.

vs Georgia State
Just looking at their scores, they seem to be getting worse. Being at home, we should get this one. Open up 2-0 (both at home, got to win at home) in the conference would be a great start.

We can shoot. A little bit. Sometimes.
Still, 64% from the line needs to be 8-10% higher. But our shooting was better.

I still think about Cliff Ellis and his obnoxious wife when I think of Coastal basketball. They are probably still shagging down at the inlet. Loved it every time we beat them when he was there.

A quick poll on staying with the job. I taught and coached at 2 schools in 40 years. Spent 24 yrs at one and 16 at the other. How about the rest of you?

It don’t matter to me which ones show up. I just hope the ones that do are ready to play.

Quote: “That is true. It is like the argument going on at 247 about whether Allen is the best QB in the NFL. Makes me laugh. Picking the best player is subjective and depends on what someone values.” Agreed. And take all these yakkers on sports channels arguing fiercely day after day about who is th...

Re: Birmingham Bowl
So teams pull out of bowls. Corporate sponsors quit putting advertisement dollars into bowl games and find other avenues to advertise. Bowl games decrease. Is this where it’s going?

Re: Birmingham Bowl
RaleighApp, I agree on a conference championship trophy having great worth, value and meaning to players. But I was particularly referring to an essentially meaningless bowl trophy. Not much worth in today’s athletic landscape. Except the opponent is GSU and beating them would mean more to me as a f...

Some of our coaches will be at the Shrine Bowl practices in Spartanburg, contact period or not. They always are. That’s next week.

Re: Birmingham Bowl
I don’t believe many players care about winning some hardware to put in the trophy case nowadays. I don’t believe bowl payouts are as much as many think because of the expenses. I don’t know if any team that plays in a bowl game can do so under half a million in expenses. And that’s going on the che...

Re: Birmingham Bowl
The downside? What if our guys don’t show up with enthusiasm? I’ve watched a lot of bowl games each year where players don’t seem to be interested in being there. That’s why I won’t gamble on them. You never know. If we get Ted stomped it’ll be a big downer. Q: Will the guys getting paid want extra ...

The coaches he worked with and the experiences he had at Florida should make Napier a better coach.
