Re: BGP Postgame: Georgia Southern Sucks
I think EHApp is correct. 21 points is probably one point shy of when you bring in your backup with 6 min on the clock. The truth is we have not had a lead sufficient to get back ups experience this year. (sav. st the exception) Hope that changes in Atlanta.

Re: We've been Spoiled
DAnte Smith was the OL who committed to (In the final days before signing day)' us and flipped to ECU when he received an offer.

Re: '17 APP Football - IF WE KNEW THEN WHAT WE KNOW NOW ---
I don't disagree. 8-4 would be very respectable. That would of course assume a great improvement in play over the past few weeks. But it may happen. Clearly that's a step back from last year, but not bad under the circumstances.

Re: We've been Spoiled
WVApp-I think we are at a stalemate so let's move on.... '94-If we are getting better players now than when we were FCS then why is our computer rating (by all sources) lower than when we played in the SoCon? We are currently 89 on Sagarin. The NC teams were in the 60-70's. On the subject of losing ...

Re: We've been Spoiled
I will give it another shot. Several people on this board (yourself included) have stated that we are in transition. The implication being we do not yet have a full compliment of FBS players. I'm pointing out that the players coming in are very similar to the ones going out (in talent) and with an a...

Re: We've been Spoiled
Yes, in most cases a HS player will pick ECU over any SBC team. And very rarely do we beat UNC for a kid. I also believe (and the Sagarin rating confirm that position) that Apps '05-'07 teams had more talent than the current squad. For that matter the '75 team would beat the '17 team.

Re: We've been Spoiled
OK. Let's deal with just the facts. By NCAA definition the transition period between FCS and FBS consists of ineligibility for post season play in year one. The transition year ends at the beginning of year two. As a practical matter when a transitioning team reaches 85 grants it has parity with oth...

Re: We've been Spoiled
Just a note on the transitioning discussion. Ga So won the SBC their first year, with three classes of SoCon players. So much for the big difference between FCS and SBC talent. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but my perspective is transition is a poor excuse for failing. I stand by my statement....

Re: We've been Spoiled
Rick--The players SBC schools sign are more closely related (in talent) to the top tier FCS schools than to the top P5 programs. I see the advantage of being an SBC team a matter of numbers. When you reach a scholarship level of 85 you have more mid major players than a 63 grant program. Not necessa...

Re: We've been Spoiled
Anyone can spin the sunshine all they want. This team was picked to win the SBC, has the personnel to do it, and is way, way underperforming. The past two weeks we have lost to teams that are among the worst in the nation. Neither even ranks in the Sagarin top 100!! Acknowledging a step backwards is...

Re: Defense
With the key personnel we had returning, this team should have won 9-10 games. Strength of schedule was low. Nine could happen, but excepting Ga So I expect we will be underdogs in all the other games. The special teams seem to have new issues every week. Our secondary and LBs couldn't cover a grand...

Re: This game
There is a difference between being negative and recognizing the obvious. We are in year four of FBS membership. Why are we so young? It seems clear there were recruiting issues 3-5 years ago. Especially on the O line side. As someone pointed out we have two linemen who can sustain blocks. And three...

Re: Foot Shooting
Agree with most posts. Just a footnote. ON the UM final drive in regulation they had no time outs and a moving clock. Their only option was to attack the boundary and get out of bounds. So we choose not to defend the sidelines?!? They do the obvious and march down for a FG. I'm puzzled on that one. ...

Re: UMass game TV info
FYI--In the Columbia, SC area Dish 412-24 is carrying the game (NESN). I assume other DISH outlets outside NE will also have it.
