Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

Being the optimist, my hope is that Kerns, as a fairly young guy, is returning and encouraged his players to enter the portal. If they can better their situation, he supports them but has advised them that he will welcome them back in should they wish to return. But he gave them a deadline to retur...

Kerns put Greene in the game!!
Anybody have an idea why Kerns did not start Greene on Senior night, Years of dedication to the team, earned a scholarship, and only got 50 seconds at the end of the game - I feel like all coaches start the Seniors even for a minute or two?

Re: Other SB schools losing players to Transfer Portal

The ULL QB is being reported to have received $750k+ NIL offer, ULL had $400k to try to keep him. Just impossible to keep a decent player these days for most G5 programs. Anyone have knowledge of the ins and outs of these NIL deals. For example are they performance based, only apply as long as you ...

Re: MBB vs Central Penn, Tues 12/5 8pm

It would be interesting to see a poll of all students to ask them what entices them to attend sports other than football. Is the quality of the team absolutely the number one priority? I've watched some games involving other schools who aren't very good and their student section is packed and loud....

Re: Injuries

So boosters can just contribute money to a collective and whoever is in charge can dole out money to athletes? If an App football player does a radio spot for a local car wash who pays him? The collective can also work with businesses to connect them with players. I would assume any endorsements wo...

Re: Austin Peay

I realize we’re much better off now than we were 5 years ago. No doubt. However, winning 55% of your games by scoring 68-72 points a game ain’t going to draw the casual fan. Locals and sports invested students will be there to the tune of 1800-2500 a game max. I think Coach Kerns finally has a rost...

Re: Austin Peay

Yeah, was at the game yesterday, I just don't understand it at all. Great product, fun atmosphere. I took my son to his first game in Holmes (freshman at App) and he really liked it and asked me why more people don’t go. I asked him what he thought and he basically said it’s not a “happening” like ...

Re: Oregon State 10:00 pm TIP

Going to be another 500 season most likely sad Will be interesting to see where we are on Jan 1 - early games involve a lot of travel, not sure why we are out in Oregon - I assume its one of those games for the team to "enjoy the travel destination?" Kerns seems to like to play in the 60 point rang...

Re: FANS

I think this is hilarious and many true points. Reminds me of a similar rant a few years back by Oklahoma State Head coach. "Come after me, I'm a man, I'm 40" albeit a little different scenario but the result is a "breaking point" - I will now be calling people Tyler for a long time. There is a prof...

Re: Southeastern Campbell State MBB mini/megathread

For bball games someone in the athletic department needs to give a job to a student or the cheer leaders need to be more involved getting the crowd excited and chanting - need some hype. I don't go to many games due to obligations but there was no App State Chant at the game today. Maybe because it ...

Re: New 600 car Holmes Deck

Has anyone seen any drawings showing where the deck near Holmes will be located? Haven't seen a plan, but guessing the smallish lot behind the Holmes Dome, I think the university owns some land in the woods around that lot as well, etc. If there is a sky bridge it would most likely go over the shor...

Don’t worry about Joy being in a strip center. Look at the menu.
Joy over Vidalia every time. Artisnal is an Elite restaurant, Joy comes close on the food but not the overall atmosphere and appeal.

Re: Watauga High School Hires Female to Coach Boys Basketball.

It really doesn't matter to the young people, they want a knowledgeable person who cares and wants to help them get better. I have known Laura since her playing days, she will do fine. Please note I am not targeting the person in the hire - just a topic of the theme of opposite gender coaches and a...

Re: Watauga High School Hires Female to Coach Boys Basketball.

Happened for us in North Myrtle Beach High School. Darcie Vincent, yep her, is now head varsity basketball coach here for the Chiefs which is the first female coach for a male varsity sports program in Horry County. She replaced a local legend, Alvin Greene, who was building a pretty good program an...
