Re: 2025 App BB Transfers

As an example, JMU is a good educational institution amongst our peers. However, they have a program called “The School of Professional and Continuing Education”. What is that? You tell me because their website is a bunch of jargon. It looks like filler classes to me. https://www.jmu.edu/pce/index....

Re: 2025 App BB Transfers

Might be a blessing in disguise that we ended the season poorly. Virginia just fired their interim head coach. Kerns would be a perfect fit there. Such a similar style to Tony Bennett. Probably would’ve been one of the top candidates had we finished the season strong.     ...

Re: MBB, SBC tournament vs Old Dominion, Fri 3/7 8:30pm

WBB ends the season on an 8 game losing streak and MBB ends on a four game losing streak. We’ve not had a lot of success in the tourney (3-6) outside of ‘21. Great job DG --- hiring NOT 1 But 2 coaches from a place called Presbyterian -- it's all on Doug, when baseball stinks and softball always st...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates

Lance Ware joining East Carolina football staff -- now that's a smart move by the Pirates, they will pick up 2/3 recruits per year from the Western NC, Upstate SC area based on that hire.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates

Nothing like firing the 30 year old General Manager after he kept the roster and portal intact before his contract was up for renewal today. This is the plan that DG had to steady the ship through the transition and DL carried out leading this employee on as if he would have a future job. Users are...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates

He had him come in the office - through Nolan - finally met with Lance in person this week and told him he wouldn't;t be retained. It happens - Lance will be fine, the dragging people along will have repercussions in time though. Some concerns I am hearing and know: 1- Kaden Robinson met one on one ...

Re: DJ Smith DC

I would like a Doomsday Defense or a Steel Curtain Defense. Would settle for a No Name Defense, Legion of Boom, Purple People Eaters, Monsters of the Midway, Grits Blitz, Gang Green, The Big Blue Wrecking Crew, Tampa 2, No Fly Zone, Orange Crush, The Killer B's, The Fearsome Foursome, The New York ...

Wonder if Dowell will essentially be the OC cause we have most of an offensive staff and no named OC.
This is not even a question of course he will call plays that's why DG hired him, Drink 2.0 hopefully fingers crossed.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates

How about you let time tell rather than write him off. That’s the point. Who did I write off?? Boise St will be a tough game next year -- BUT we all expect us to win that game!! Go Apps. Can't wait to see the line on the CLT game, that will tell us a lot. Also I thought a majority wanted to go AWAY...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates

I like DJ, spent time with him in the past wish him big success. My comments were truth about DJ and how it is similar to the Ponce hire. Both dropped back down to App to have more of a voice in play calling. Time will tell.. Fuller on the other hand, well that's on you guys to drink that kool aid.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates

You have Coach DLo with NFL experience. Dj Smith with NFL experience. Now Curtis Fuller with NFL experience. I don't think we have ever had a coaching staff with this much NFL experience. I know that doesn't always translate to college but all these guys have coached college as well..... I think DG...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates

Be cautious of these NFL back to college hires, Robert Nunn was one that didn't work out under #TeamClark, Dale Jones wanted to hire him, they were friends from years ago. Nunn was always focused on getting back into the NFL, wanted his retirement pension, needed 1 year. He struggled with college re...

Ponce to FIU, associate head coach/TE, per footballscoop.
Juatin Watts most likely gets an assists here on this one.... Simmons was at Duke with Watts, Watts probably said Ponce was a no brainer in South Florida recruiting.

Re: Dowell's assistants

At some point the NCAA must restrict its members (schools) on academic side of things in some way to combat the open market of transferring.....The NCAA can deter their schools that will slow down who the coaches of those member schools can recruit. They have shown they can't touch the athletes with...

Re: Dowell's assistants

One thing to remember is now when you hire a new head coach you often times get their entire staff, however, when you hire an assistant coach, you have to wait for them to hire their entire staff. The biggest difference now is they can bring their players with them and they do not need to sit out a...

Re: Dowell's assistants

It took 7 days to hire CDL -- he's been the coach for 14 days and hasn't made a significant hire yet........... DG got sold a bill of goods and this is the first sign of that, not having a real staff ready to rock in roll. Yeah I'm not ready to agree with you but I am getting there... Of course som...

Re: Dowell's assistants

$3m That’s gotta be close to the top at sbc/g5 I’m really not sure and don’t have any data. I would say it has to be near the top for the SBC for sure. I believe under Clark it was around $1.5-$2m. So the belief by some that we are strapped for cash is not always true. There are investments being m...
