Re: MBB: Welcome Coach Dustin Kerns

We are a football school. The expectations are high. We are at the top of our conference. We go 8-4 in football and it is viewed as a down season. We go 24-8 in basketball and that’s the best thing since sliced bread. The expectations are different, plain and simple, at least right now. I’m happy t...

Re: MBB: Welcome Coach Dustin Kerns

Unlike football, there’s really no place to go but up. Drink is in a pressure cooker. Kearns isn’t. No predictions here because I thought Fox would succeed. Good luck to both coaches. Just out of curiosity, why do you hold high expectations for our football program and not extend them to our basket...

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search

Lutz stated on DG show that App is looking at a younger candidate. $&@+ ! Where has “younger” gotten us recently? I’d take proven winner over little boy with potential any day right now. Especially when the geezer apparently really wants to be here. In fairness, this could be taken out of context. ...

Re: Zac Thomas voted best QB in SBC for 2019

I would like to see Baldwin get game time as early as possible to prepare him for stepping in for Zac should something like the GS fiasco start to happen again. That nearly ended our shot at the SBC championship.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

Bets on how many more walk before coaching a lick? Curious. Is ECU, Troy, or others out there having this kind of turnover in their new staffs? As I said before, are we going after too big a fish? Does Drink need to look at smaller, yet quality, fish? The players have to be getting frustrated if we ...

Re: Another one bites the dust

How do we teach our youth COMMITMENT when the adults who are their mentors don’t know how to honor their own COMMITMENT? Unfortunately, in today's world, that ship has sailed. It's all about living in the moment. (Can't say I agree with it, but it's reality) Unfortunately, that is very true. Our so...

Re: Another one bites the dust

There is a lot to be said for contentment, IMO. I quit constantly looking for the bigger, better position some years ago and am the happiest I’ve ever been. I live within my means and it works for me. It took me until my 40’s to figure that out so I guess it’s to be expected from younger folks. Good...

Re: Another one bites the dust

How do we teach our youth COMMITMENT when the adults who are their mentors don’t know how to honor their own COMMITMENT? I agree 100%. Once again, this is all about money and self advancement. Sadly, money and self is all that really matters to so many people today. Other people that were counting ...

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

Would digging deeper for lesser known candidates be the way to go? There is too much interest from bigger programs for these more recognizable names. We need some continuity to start building for our players.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

Started out washing dishes in cafeteria. Then promoted to salad bar and drink bar. Then promoted to grill cook where I learned to dip chicken livers out of a 5 gallon pail, roll them in flour and fry them up. Can’t imagine they were in high demand, except for with professors maybe. Hope I got them d...

Nothing beats the either 3 or 4 dogs for $1 at the shell station on 321 back in the 80’s. Mmmm good and cheap late at night. The Scotchman Oh, was it? Memory failing a bit, like I couldn’t remember if it was 3 or 4 dogs for a buck. Of course, when eating there things were a little fuzzy that late a...

I don’t blame him if $ are his main motivation. It was more my motivation at a younger age, but as I’ve aged I found $ not always enough to make a move for. I could make probably 25% more money tomorrow if I was willing to put up with all the negative affects on my personal life. Twenty years ago I ...

And how do we expect the student/athletes to act differently? Transfers, flip commitments, declare too early for the draft....Something is wrong here!
Exactly. We can’t expect it when we as adults just chase immediate gratification in $. No feeling of obligation whatsoever.
