Re: MBB: App State @ Troy

Someone used to keep a tally of Billy Jones losses when App baseball had the lead after 6 innings.

May be time to start a tally on Fox's W/L record by 5 or fewer points.

PG is the most important position in college basketball and we haven't had one for crunch time in a long time.

Re: We need this type of facility -will our new facility fill some of these roles?

Talking in circles, nope very consistent. Students are compensated, to argue they aren’t makes all other points null and void. Great examples in earlier posts. Rightful wages? That is subjective even if there were profits, which there aren’t at our level. Those “non-essential items” weren’t paid for...

Re: We need this type of facility -will our new facility fill some of these roles?

Why would we exclude App from the conversation on the MMB??? What are you going to pay the student athletes at App and 95% of the other programs across America with? There are no profits to pay them. That is the point. Do you work for a corporation? Actually the way college athletics is set up is ve...

Re: We need this type of facility -will our new facility fill some of these roles?

At schools like App St I AM telling you that. You are referencing the 40ish football programs that make a profit. What do we pay the other 95% of programs, do those players not get paid and thus those opportunities are forfeited so we can pay 2% of th athletes that play for profitable programs?

Re: We need this type of facility -will our new facility fill some of these roles?

Only approximately two programs of about 40 schools out the 20 programs at 200+ schools make a profit, should we pay all student athletes or only those that make a profit? No student athlete at App would get paid in the latter.

You may also not understand the difference between revenue and profit.

Re: We need this type of facility -will our new facility fill some of these roles?

When people say they want to pay student athletes, they need to be reminded of all the perks and benefits they receive that the average student does not. The lifestyle they live while in college will be unattainable at any point in their lives post graduation for 95+% of them. But they only build f...

Re: Ivey news

I believe Satt was Associate Head Coach and was an OC at two other FBS programs before taking the position.

I don’t think this is the same. Which is why I asked the question where this position ranks compared to OC and DC.

great guy, but his resume doesn’t equate to our next head coach.

A coach is truly measured by their record in close games.

4-5 in games decided by 6 or less with some real heartbreakers in there.

Re: Ivey news

Am I the only one that is confused as to what an assistant head coach is?

Is this the same position Satt had when Jerry was HC?

Is this above an OC and DC?

What if the expansion didn't include a G5 autobid, I'd vote against that too.

Re: Apps Seek 1st Road Win

I'd be fine if Fox never mentioned Davidson while App State's coach ever again. I'd like for him to go one Mountaineer Talk without doing it. I don't think he understands that most of his fond Davidson memories were painful ones for App State. When you don’t have memories of your current program th...

Great win, got to listen to second half. Great shooting - over 50% from three and very turnovers were the key.

Still need to work on FTs.

Re: FCS Championship, JMU vs. NDSU, Noon, ESPN2

NDSU would be in the top half of the MAC if they moved up, but they are on an island and that inn is full. JMU is another story, they hold out hope for a CUSA invite not realizing the difference between them and the SBC is minimal at best. JMU hasn’t felt the impact of Liberty going FBS yet either...

Re: North End Zone Project Gets Green Light

I grew up standing on Owens deck in the club room watching the team warm up and hoping the FG would sail into the deck. About twice a warmup it would I think the kicker enjoyed hitting someone with a drink. Now we tailgate with two other families, but for rain games or late November games with small...

Re: FCS Championship, JMU vs. NDSU, Noon, ESPN2

Predicted a decline in southeast FCS programs many years ago. There are SEVEN more FBS programs in a three state region compared to 10 years ago. The power at that level has shifted westward and I don’t predict it to change soon.

Got to speak to a senior AD official over the break to share some thoughts he identicated many donors have shared similar perspectives. Two largest areas of concern for me were exterior design to match existing facilities and replacement of general seating. There was also significant discussion abou...

Re: UNCC's Judy Rose retiring in June

Both will be able to recruit and have enough student funding to make up any deficits until the fanbases are engaged. At the G5 level all it takes in a competent AD and coaching staff. I think they’ll both go through periods of 2-3 years of 6-9 wins followed by 2-3 years of 3-6 wins, rinse and repeat.
