Re: NEZ work today
I've heard them say where they are designing it to be able to become connected. But it won't be when they first open it next year.... $$$ Correct -- the concourse connection is a "next-phase/as fundraising allows" project. The main takeaway is the NEZ facility was designed with future stadium expan...

Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
Friday night college football is a disease that needs to be cured. Wake is a prime offender - they LOVE playing on Friday nights. It's terrible.

Re: Underdog Dynasty Presence?
There are plenty of good writers with a passion for App State sports who COULD do this. The problem is the expectation they (or anyone) should do it for free. The content will generate traffic, which will generate revenue. I have a fundamental objection to doing anything for free that generates mone...

Dustin can coach. Sum will always be greater than the parts with him in charge, and once he gets a few recruiting classes in here, we'll be winning the Sun Belt. Damn good coach.

That bowl tie-in info is distressing. Appears the Sun Belt has not improved its position at all.

Last night was amateur hour. Hell, the entire week has been. Can only hope Drink isn't as arrogant and smug as appears to be and learns something from this.

I've never seen such a bizarre level of hand-wringing about something that is both temporary and entirely inconsequential in terms of the big picture of the future of this program.

I watched Spurlock give a good UNC Charlotte team 36 and 18 one night. I thought for sure he was going to be an NBA player - dude was impossible to deal with when he was right. Apke recruited well - Spurlock, Ricky Nedd, Nod Carter, Broderick Parker, Billy Ross, Junior Braswell, Chad McClendon, Jeff...

Re: Stadium Area Pics
The track program needs a place to train/practice, which they can do on parts of the track not closed off to EZ facility construction. They obviously won't have any home meets until the new facility is constructed, at which time the remainder of the existing track will be removed. Not ideal, especia...

If the last two hires are RB and DL, that would have to mean Roof is going to take either ILBs or OLBs. He's a linebacker coach by trade, I believe.

One thing I just thought about: maybe all his years with PJ have given him some special insight into dealing with the triple option. That would certainly be a good thing for the DC at App State.

App State is hiring the guy who was fired by Georgia Tech so Georgia Tech could hire the guy that put in App State's defense.
Makes sense.

ACC PROGRAM: "Hey, Ted, this style of defense just isn't getting it done in today's game anymore. So thanks and all, but you should find somewhere else to work. We want to look more like App State on that side of the ball." ONE YEAR LATER APP STATE: "Hey, Ted, come run our defense." Spin it, sell it...

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
It's impossible to know how this will work out. Until he is interviewed by someone who asks him about his schematic preferences, his openness to change, etc., all we can do is guess why Drink went this route. But what we do know is this: 1. He's been fired (or politely asked to leave) four times, in...

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Roof is a dinosaur. A dinosaur who has coached at a number of P5 programs and so he knows what it looks like at that level and what kind of athletes and resources are needed to compete. In the past he also had a good reputation as a teacher. If this is a hire primarily based on that experience and b...
