A shortened season is better than no season though.
True. It is just too early to even ponder if we have a season and need to plan as though we will. I really think we will have it. We are 5 months away so we have time.

Re: Will There Be College Football in 2020? Athletic Directors Weigh In

Ask me again June 1st is the appropriate response. Agree here. It is way too early. I feel like by early June we will have a much better idea and may not know for sure until July. My guess is that we will have a season. It would be catastrophic to Olympic sports if we don't and if we are in such ba...

Re: This stinks...

We're going to be thin on defense to say the least: "He becomes the seventh defensive starter who won't return for 2020. The Mountaineers saw nose tackle E.J. Scott; a linebacker trio of Noel Cook, Akeem Davis-Gaither and Jordan Fehr; and safeties Desmond Franklin and Josh Thomas graduate." We are ...

Re: Panthers Hire Baylor’s Matt Rhule

The trenches is where all Superbowls are won and lost. If you can protect your quarterback and disrupt the opponent's QB, you can win. It's that simple. Thought this topic needed a bump with the Newton release. It was pretty well known around the NFL that this was going to happen. They were waiting...

Re: QBs - from ESPN

Interesting article, but you can't tell me there are 25 better "QB rooms" than the one in Boone. I understand the P5 bias, I even accept it but some of those on the list are a joke (Miss State and Michigan with no returning QB in particular). Hope ZT and guys add this to the motivation pile! Keep i...

Re: TV worth watching

Eli did a good job overall as a coach but when he got this job, everyone was excited about the offense being turned loose and how we were going to be more aggressive under him. That absolutely was NOT the case. If anything, I think he was MORE conservative with a lead and we left a lot on the table...

Re: 2007 App State @ Michigan

I watched the South Carolina game this weekend. The crowd that we brought to WBS was impressive. Can’t wait for Wake. If our battles in the 90s are any indication I expect us to fill the road side now since our crowds have gotten even better. We always traveled well down there. The great thing abou...

Re: Potential impacts of no pro day

I know for a fact scouts were very interested in Colin Reed's pro day. His "weakness" coming out of HS was blocking and that is why he didn't get the bigger offers. Well, with our offense, his blocking was proven. He was frustrated a lot during his time at App due to the lack of receptions, but his...

Re: Draft Per CBS Sports

I'm sure the process will look different but I would think the NFL teams will make adjustments in their process to get looks at some of these days who were on their radar for evaluation. Camps could be super competitive this year. Here is the text from a memo that went to the NFL GMs, head coaches,...

Re: Potential impacts of no pro day

It seems now no one will have pro day before draft. Therefore I think it will not hurt our players. A couple things to keep in mind here. No pro days and no visits so scouts can't get a first hand account or do medical tests on players. Gaither could fall a little bit with teams not being able to v...

Re: What is Bar for 2020 Football Season?

I think the bar right now is if we even get to see a college football season. If there is one NY6 is the bar but not likely IMHO. Conference Championship and a bowl win is the standard. My worry is law of averages starts to catch up with our record tear over the last few years. Go App! And like I s...

Re: Potential impacts of no pro day

I don't think no pro day will have any impact on Evans or Davis-Gaither's draft stock. Sometimes a Pro Day can actually do the opposite & hurt a player's stock (i.e. Duck gained lbs of muscle before '19 Pro Day, had slower 40-yard dash time) so I say it's a toss-up for guys like Fehr & Victor. Pro ...

Re: Potential impacts of no pro day

Common sense, when things go back to normal workouts will be rescheduled. Another two weeks may actually help health wise. I am saying if they don't happen. The draft will happen as normal and I just don't see us having our pro day after all unless things are completely normal by then. So many thin...

Re: What is Bar for 2020 Football Season?

I will be happy with a split of the P5 games. Then our first undefeated SB regular season, another SB Championship game victory and a bowl win. Got a lot to replace on defense. I think worse case that is 10-2 regular season and 12-2. I really don't think we can lose 2 conference games and still get...

Re: What is Bar for 2020 Football Season?

I kinda feel like beating the stink should be added to the bar ... reality is they've had our number past two years with our better teams. Wisconsin will be the best team we've played since Penn St. Wake has had the coaching stability over the past several years, while we will be on our 3rd coachin...

Potential impacts of no pro day

I have seen articles online bringing this up. What would the impact of no pro day be? I post because I would be curious to see what others think. Guys like Jordan Fehr who maybe could have worked their way into the draft may not do so now. I think this was also a wake up call that players need to te...

Re: What is Bar for 2020 Football Season?

Should getting to and winning SBC Championship game be a reasonable expectation for our team? YES Should getting to NY6 and winning it be a stated goal? I say YES I would say Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, etc and a few more will certainly state their goal as winning the National Championship game...

Re: Draft Per CBS Sports

Raiders also interested in ADG. I feel like because of his speed that every team will have some type of interest. Some may want him as a safety and some a linebacker but still would have interest in him. I will never forget when Matt Stevens went to the Bills and he told folks that the Bills were o...
