Re: Street & Smith's Feature on App

Make sure to pick it up. Just got one and they have a story calling us "Boise State of the East? in there. Good read. Winning clearly provides this type of coverage that even the best AD is not going to be able to buy. Athlon has us picked to lose to Louisiana. I mean maybe they do beat us but they...

Re: Pat Dye: He Once Called Us a Sleeping Giant

App is realistically 10 years from being where AAC schools are right now. We are far behind in budget, donations, season ticket holders, and attendance compared to most of that league. And that's ok. Most of those schools have significant alumni base, market, donor, etc advantages over us. But fans...

Re: Pat Dye: He Once Called Us a Sleeping Giant

" I know people who heard Pat say that about App." My recollection about that "sleeping giant" quotation or something very close to it comes from the '79 App game @ Va Tech...Jim Brakefield v. Bill Dooley. The game program had a very complimentary Dooley quotation awfully, awfully similar to that. ...

Re: Pat Dye: He Once Called Us a Sleeping Giant

Dye was a professional colleague and close friend of former App head coach Jim Brakefield. Dye tried every tool in his little black bag to get App to muscle up facilities and athletic fundraising and go with the Pirates into D-I when the SoCon was being relegated to D-IAA by the NCAA. To be fair, A...

Re: Don't Overlook Appalachian State

Clemson has always just kind of been "down there somewhere" in regards to the sports world and geography. In a lot of personal conversations and talking head conversations Clemson is skipped over a lot in regards to the Carolinas. Its almost like if you ignore something long enough it will go away ...

Re: Jalin Moore Waived

Maybe if/when he gets healthy, he can catch on in Canada. I have heard that may never happen. If he is healthy enough to play he is good enough to play in the NFL. If he is looking up north in the next year or so it is because NFL doctors advised him his career is over and then I would hope he does...

Re: Jalin Moore Waived

I haven't heard much about Jalin since the Jets picked him up. Does anyone know if this is a new injury, or has he just never been able to get all the way back from the original one? Last I heard it was the same injury. His medical results given to NFL teams came back very bad from the few people I...

Re: 2020 QB tiers

I stopped reading after I saw Sam Howell in the ELITE category. I think that is a projection. It is why many have UNC in the top 20 of their preseason rankings because they believe UNC will be really good. I felt more confident we could beat UNC last year than I do in 2020 but I still think we coul...

That’s a premium article, we can’t see it. We = broke ass peons. Actually, most ESPN stuff is not worth paying. I see some articles that I'm sure are pretty good but what is super different in those QB ratings from the rest online? Group think is a huge issue in the media right now so there is not ...

Re: La. Tech AD talking trash

Dudes reading straight from his "hype the donors" script lol. The gap from CUSA to SBC is loooong gone. It existed in 2005-2012 when CUSA's core was the current AAC teams and SBC was a mix of current CUSA and SBC schools. But once the 2013 shuffle started, the resulting CUSA isn't any better than S...

Re: La. Tech AD talking trash

That guy is a tool for sure. He may be saying what his alumni want him to say but he did not have to take a dig at them. I don't think La Tech is so superior to Louisiana that they can really look down on them. LSU looks down on La Tech even more than La Tech looks down on Louisiana and they don't l...

Really good player. Would love to see him transfer to a P5. He did not throw a single pick in 2019. Hard to improve on what he did.

Re: App cutting multiple sports

Well, we couldn't reasonably expect that our athletics would be immune to the same things plaguing many others. Exactly. And I know we have had good men's soccer teams before but I never thought we needed those sports. I would say get rid of volleyball and tennis but apparently a rich booster is fu...

Ok, since this has moved to talking about kickers maybe some of you guys can help me out, or tell me I’m wrong on a question. Kickers are extremely important but I don’t think I’ve ever seen us offer a scholarship to an incoming freshman kicker. Am I correct and if so why not? Rubino was a scholars...

Re: Dave Clawson Smack Talking

I understand that, at the end of the game Rubino got a field goal attempt blocked and therefore we lost by one point. That said, if I had to point to ONE play (it's NEVER just one play) that cost App that game, it was the off sides penalty on the punt that gave Wake the ball back. If that didn't ha...
