Re: Good article on Coach Satterfield and recruiting
He’s a Mountaineer, and he always will be. He's a Cardinal now. He is a former Mountaineer. No. He earned a degree from Appalachian State. He will always be a Mountaineer— no matter where he works. Now, if he had left and gone to CHeat, my view would be somewhat hypocritical. But he didn’t, so I am...

Re: Coaching Addage
YC’s hottest club is this thread. This place has everything: cliches, beating a dead horse, a misspelling, starting a new thread for no reason... But of course it wouldn't be complete without an a-hole to chime in with negativity. If you don't like or don't care about the topic, don't click it. Lif...

Re: Appalachian Unpopular Opinions
We had plateaued with Satterfield as HC It’s probably true this is overall unpopular, but I’ve seen a surprising number of people express a similar view. It’s kind of curious considering Satt’s last team was his best (despite heavy losses from the previous team that had many predicting a semi-rebui...

Re: UConn leaving the AAC
Tom Sorensen, a long time writer for the Charlotte Observer, wrote in an article once, and I don’t even remember what it was about but I think it pertained to this “market” subject, that if a man walked into a bar in Charlotte and said I’ll buy a round for every ECU grad in the joint, he might brea...

Re: UConn leaving the AAC
I graduated in 75. I love the growth and the traffic is much better than Charlotte! Agreed. As bad as Boone traffic is it is better than Charlotte. Still love Boone. Still visit every chance I get, and not just during football season. But is not the place it was when I graduated in'99. Change is in...

Re: ETSU picks up Miami QB
He was a three star recruit out of college, redshirted then this past season saw very few snaps. I'm not worried. Don't ever use stars as an argument for or against a player. Dexter Coakley- 0 stars, Brian Quick- 0 stars, DJ Smith- 0 stars, Armanti Edwards- 2 stars, etc. There are some great player...

Re: Cushioned Seats
I wonder if it would work with just the seat portion, sans back? My wife and I flirted with going upstairs where the seats are super comfy (and expensive), but the atmosphere up there is not what we want. I don't know how anyone my age can sit and watch an entire game. No standing up and cheering? ...

Re: Cushioned Seats
I'm in 203 and there were 4 seats by me that had cushions bolted until last season. I would certainly be willing to fork out another $50 per seat per year to have a true placeholder. Been sitting with the same people on my right for years but the seats to my left have different people every game. S...

Re: Shooting at UNC Charlotte
Several national articles only saying the police disarmed the shooter. Those stories need to be amended to include the heroics of Riley Howell.

Re: Shooting at UNC Charlotte
I can only laugh or cry. Laugh to hide the sincere sorrow or cry for those hurting. I have emailed the cabin to delete my profile. I no longer find camaraderie and joy for our young student athletes on Yosef's Cabin. In the FCS days especially, it was great to come here to find tidbits of press abo...

Re: Shooting at UNC Charlotte
No one Seriously is targeting legal gun owners. The 2nd amendment ain’t going anywhere. BUT There are things that can be done. Do you really need an AR-15? Do you really need high capacity mags? Can’t you wait a while longer to get the gun? What’s wrong with a national database? Do you need a gun b...

Re: Shooting at UNC Charlotte
Anyone with a concealed carry permit is already in a database. I waited several weeks to get be granted my CCW permit while required background checks, including mental health background check, were performed by the proper authorities in part because that permit is my license to buy a firearm withou...

Re: Swinney Strikes Gold
Saban has what, 3-5 years left before retiring? Dabo's new contract is 10. Sets up nicely to have an "interim" between Saban and Swinney....but Dabo's 49 and has said before he doesn't want to coach into his 60's and 70's. He wants to have fun doing it while he's young then get out. I'm going to go...

Re: 1987 vs. Georgia Southern
That was a cool thing to watch on Youtube. Everything sounded so familiar. According to the announcers, offense was good but it was the defense that won the games that year. Run the ball down your throat, smash mouth football. Defense giving up yards, but not points. That has been the App recipe for...

Re: Athletic Scholarships
I was at App '94-'99. I was aware of Yosef Club but never really knew what it was about. I joined to get good seats and parking for football. Best $500 I spent that year. Then I became good friends with other Yosef Club members, purely by chance, at a job I had. They are the people who enlightened m...

If it was someone from App, Alex would have pronounced it wrong but he would have known who we are.
