Re: Darrynton Evans - Declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft
John Settle. No S on name. Played when we ran I formation, no passing game at all. He was a workhorse plain and simple. Our whole offense. Played for Falcons and I think he was pro bowl at least once. I watched John Settle play. Our offense back then was 3 yards and a pile of dust. No passing game ...

Re: Tony Searcy
I'm just seeing this post for the first time. I remember Tony Searcy well during the Bobby Cremins era playing at Varsity Gym. I never missed a game. I was and I still am too much of a diehard not to be an App fan..."Tony, I pray and sincerely hope you make a full recovery. I was once partially para...

Re: Donnie Holt
I was at all three games in '75 (USC, Wake & ECU). I remember Donnie's catch very well and him too. A hell of a nice guy. After the USC game, the sports broadcasts that night in Colombia were calling us the best team in both Carolinas...! Amazing, to say the least, as we were a 1-AA team years away ...

Re: #rankappstate
On a side note to all of this Rank App State business...I waited over 30 years to see our football program be recognized on a national level when we beat Michigan (the national championships didn't hurt either). And now we're finally in the FBS, have dominated the SunBelt, G5 teams, won 2 conference...

Re: Big news coming soon?
http://www.dailypress.com/sports/dp-spt-hokies-ecu-cancelled-1003-story.html anything to do with this??? I wish it could be that, but I doubt it. It would be great to finally play Virginia Tech. That date (1Dec18) conflicts with the first annual Sunbelt Conference Football Championship game date. H...

Re: We Stay at #39 in Coaches Poll
That's how much anyone is paying attention and giving us credit. A load of manure. It's all about winning, the rest of the nation doesn't care about almost winning. It's about winning and moving on. Hence why Penn st is still at 10 and did not drop. Have to find ways to start winning these games. B...

Re: Brewer-Moore Stadium? What do you think?
The stadium should be named Jerry Moore Stadium. Kidd Brewer was only a Mountaineer coach for 4 years, if my memory serves me correctly... I don't see why after such a short tenure the stadium would be named after him regardless of his short term success. Jerry Moore contributed much more to Mountai...

Re: We've been Spoiled
Again, if you had ever played or coached you would understand a teams record is irrelevant the day you play them - that is as simple as it gets - if you don't see that, well just bitch and complain about how bad this team is all you want because the only people who will agree with your statements d...

Re: We've been Spoiled
Oh please tell me where I called any of these teams "great" - It amazes how some of you give no respect to some of our opponents - AMAZES ME!!! - Just because a team is struggling and has a losing record doesn't mean a damned thing the day you play them - Forget it - you clearly have never played o...

Re: We've been Spoiled
" For the most part, the conference teams we are playing this year happen to be some of the worst teams in the FBS. UMass and ULM were pathetic losses and when you add how we barely beat Texas State and Idaho and struggled to beat Coastal," Do you even bother to look up info on any of these teams o...

Re: We've been Spoiled
Anyone can spin the sunshine all they want. This team was picked to win the SBC, has the personnel to do it, and is way, way underperforming. The past two weeks we have lost to teams that are among the worst in the nation. Neither even ranks in the Sagarin top 100!! Acknowledging a step backwards i...

Re: ?Future Non-Conference Schedules?
Firstly I agree that I'd prefer to schedule home and homes with G5 members over FCS games, that said: App plays two FCS opponents over the next four seasons. Only two ACC programs play less than two FCS programs over that same span (FSU and Miami), most play three, and three ACC programs play one e...

Re: RE: Re: ?Future Non-Conference Schedules?
I'm sorry, but I honestly can't get excited about playing GW and ETSU nor would I ever consider coming to Boone to watch these games...I was hoping that we left the FCS to avoid playing soft teams, but I guess I'm wrong. If we're ever going to do something about our SOS, playing these games are a c...

Re: MAC Championship Game
I was quite impressed with Bowling Green...big, physical and quick. I would LOVE to play them to test the quality of our team. Some of the comments on this board of not wanting to play them reminds me of Carolina not wanting to play us...Afraid to lose? Afraid, no, I think we will be the underdog w...

An amazing classy post...I would love for Montana and North Dakota State to join the Sun Belt. Your game against NDSU to kick off the year was the first game I watched and I pulled for you guys all the way. Please do it again...GO GRIZ!!!

Re: Just Feels Good
I get about half of those.....the other half I don't see us beating. I agree with Rekdiver. I can see us beating about half of these teams, but not the other half. A school from one of the football rich power conferences, like the SEC, etc with a current 5-6 record would be tough for us to beat IMH...

Re: Miami (The U) in Boone next year (yes this is football)
I'm completely in favor of this H/H with the U. Finally, an App State game that will be 15 minutes from my house instead of the 13-14 hour trip to Boone. However, I will also make the 13-14 hour trip to Boone to watch us play them at KBS. I, for one, don't mind the trip to see our Apps play because...
