Re: Assistant Hoops Coaches

Not questioning their ability but they have very little experience. That's why for me it would be important to include Allison on the staff.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search

I couldn't care less whether Jones was offered or not. People are offered jobs and turn them down all the time. I don't know why we should care. It's his loss. I am happy with the Kearns hire Whether Jones turned us down or not has no bearing on whether we should be happy with the Kerns hire. No re...

Re: MBB: Welcome Coach Dustin Kerns

From CBS Sports:

Fox lasted five years with the Appalachian State Mountaineers, going 56-99. This might be one of the better low-major jobs in the country, but the program hasn't been to the NCAAs since 2000. Kerns, a Mike Young (Wofford) disciple, is a solid hire.

Re: MBB: Welcome Coach Dustin Kerns

We are a football school. The expectations are high. We are at the top of our conference. We go 8-4 in football and it is viewed as a down season. We go 24-8 in basketball and that’s the best thing since sliced bread. The expectations are different, plain and simple, at least right now. I’m happy t...

I don’t know that Jones turned us down. I do believe we have the right man, at the right time , for our basketball program. “Take the stairs”
Actually, I'm pretty sure he was offered.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search

I do think the next few days are the most important to DK's first year fortunes. It is critical to keep the incoming class and avoid any mass defections. I'm fascinated to see how things flesh out with this hire. I think the potential is there for marked improvements if he doesn't have to start from...

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search

Kerns is the guy I’ve mentioned for weeks now after perusing ncaa stats and seeing Presbyterian pop up near the top of several categories. Nobody seemed to get very excited though. I thought App would work for him since he’s proven he can win with a previously struggling d-1 program in short amount...

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search

Just a thought brought up by someone on another site, but could the whole Gottfried, pay scandal at NC State be affecting Lutz? Guilty by association maybe? Either way, not my thoughts but a relevant point to that person, who also posts here. I was just trying to find a reason that we wouldn't have...

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search

Kerns won 20 games at PC this year. Averaged 15.5 wins per year. Ten years prior to his arrival PC averaged 8.9 wins, with a high year of 14 wins. Again, an impressive job and a better fit than Craft. Kerns is from Kingsport, TN. Craft is from Fla. Judge for yourself. Of the two, I would prefer Ker...

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search

It doesn't sound like the money is the problem with Lutz. Seems like its something on our side. Seems like this whole process has gotten complicated all of a sudden.

Visitor dressing room in Quinn Center.
That is the current thought, it is not official.
Having teams dress in there will make us look like a high school program.
Its not like we have a lot of choice.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search

My biggest concern with Craft would before this year he was only 10 games above .500 for his six year career and his best before this year (which was 3rd) in the Big South was 4th (twice). Perhaps we can't set our expectations too high but I certainly wouldn't consider him a homerun hire.

Someone make the case for Craft. I'm not hostile to him being the one, I'm just not sure I get the appeal.

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search

I'm fine with Craft, but think Lutz would have this team dancing in 4 years. And then he'd be gone. At his age, perhaps not. With each of the names mentioned as possible candidates, there are certain positive attributes that they bring. I think, given who we are and where we are at the moment, thes...

Avery Johnson available. Fired at Bama. I think we are beyond identifying candidates at this point. We don't identify candidates, DG does. Wow! I didn't know that. Ok, I think DG has already identified his candidates. I don't think recent firings are going to influence his decision.
