Re: O Line
JTApps nailed it. The problem isn't how we've recruited the past three years - the problem is that we only have three OL combined in the 4th and 5th year classes, one of whom started as a DL and another who was originally a walk-on. That's a failure of recruiting, and at one of the worst spots to tr...

Re: Blake Anderson Presser on Ark St Scout Site
Eh, just listened to it, and don't have any issue with it. He said we scheduled smart, gave ourselves games we had a chance to win. Did mention Clemson as well. If he was trying to be passive aggressive, it was pretty subtle. And, of course, he's correct.
Overall quite complimentary of our program.

G5 Top 10, Week 9: The Stretch Run
Despite a couple thrillers last week, not much movement in the rankings. But things get down to business this week with a bunch of huge games:

Re: A W is a W
Every team has a game like this during the year. Bad teams get housed. Good teams lose it close. Better teams find a way to win. The best teams make sure it does't happen twice. It feels good to be among the latter two. True, look across the landscape, were weren't the only ones who got spooked.Sta...

Re: Troy was last week!!!
Gotta feeling Stringer could be big this week. Think we might do a lot of spying on Knighten. Could be shared duty among the LB group and maybe safeties too, but this kind of game is one where Stringer could make some big plays. Can't let Knighten get loose.

Apparently the oddsmakers haven't spent the weekend dissecting our close call vs. Troy and ignoring A-State's vs. Ga. State.

Re: ESPN 3
The down and distance and the score thing is ridiculous. There was a TD scored at least more than once after which I looked away briefly and thought I missed either a blocked PAT or a flat out miss because the score wasn't updated. The down and distance was also confusing as it would not change. Gu...

Re: G-5 power rankings
East, I think Boise was given a rocket ride back up charts on rep points IMO. Agreed. For those who don't know, the official CFP top 25 debuts tomorrow night. Certainly I would expect Memphis, Houston, Toledo, and hopefully Temple to be in there. Any other G5 teams would be a surprise. I don't thin...

Re: By the skin of our teeth...
Nunn is a big loss but you can't fall apart if ONE guy goes down. Remember we now have all those extra schollies. Where are they? One of them quit the team during camp, two others are true freshmen. Tough to play young guys on the OL. The problem isn't the recruiting since we got the "extra" schola...

Re: By the skin of our teeth...
I don't blame Troy for the fake. Now having their linemen yell out "regular" to each other, which they hadn't done all game, and having the holder look back at the sidelines, which he didn't do for the FG in the second overtime, were give-aways that something was up and the defense noticed it. And ...

Re: G-5 power rankings
My beefs: - Memphis drops two spots because of "slow starts" after beating Tulane by 28? OK. No way they're behind Toledo right now. (Who, by the way, is one week removed from falling behind by 18 to UMass, if slow starts are suddenly an important thing.) - Boise moves up SEVEN spots to #5 because.....

Re: Injury Report
Fortunately we have a very capable backup in Flory who can help share the load with Law. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for all positions.

Re: A W is a W
I disagree with appstatealum's post, but wish people would lay off the attacks. I think Lamb is a very good QB. Is he an elite physical talent? No. But he's a very good G5 QB, and it's easy to forget he's only a sophomore because he's generally so reliable. Other thing I will say is I think our athl...

Re: AP Top 25 Week 10 - 1 Nov 2015
We probably missed an opportunity this week. Georgia was ahead of us, and they showed they had no business receiving any votes. Pitt and Duke lost at home. Somebody had to get the votes they lost. That's why "style points," margin of victory, whatever you want to call it - does matter. But of course...

Re: By the skin of our teeth...
However, in the end it was a bad coaching decision that cost them the chance at a win. Brown had dialed up some clever play callls throughout the game but the fake FG backfired. I would argue it was the right decision that backfired. Maybe they should have just gone for it straight up rather than t...

Re: By the skin of our teeth...
Maybe now we can stop this nonsense discussion about style points and victory margins, and stop thinking about cracking the top 25. Sell an opponent short and you can be made to pay. Today, we were a dropped pass away from suffering loss #2. I still want us to crack the top 25, and it's still a rea...
