Re: The pressure is on Doug Gillin: The most important season in the history of App State Football.
Why would we want to go to the AAC? Even they have no shot at the playoffs and we have just as good a shot at a NY6 in the Sun Belt. Bowl match ups might be better but that is it. What else am I missing? That's the best G5 conference (for both revenue sports) and their conference media rights payou...

Re: Mark Ivey named interim coach
It seems that normally the university losing the coach waits until the university hiring the coach away has their press conference before making any official statements.

Re: Great Article on replacement options
I hope everyone knows that DG has had a list for some time now. It would be very surprising that his hire is not already on that list and very possible has already been offered. Just sayin Quite honestly I'd be disappointed if he didn't already have a list prepared. DG has earned my confidence that...

Re: Great Article on replacement options
I don't think having no ties to App will disqualify any candidate. However, understanding our culture, being familiar with the area and alumni and having relationships with current coaches we may want to retain are all qualities that are positives and have to be taken into consideration. Especially ...

Re: Great Article on replacement options
One question, why is Ponce not listed? Not saying he should be our next HC. But, when looking at the list provided in the article, I think he should at least be considered.

Re: Early: possible replacements?
Dwayne Ledford grew up and has family an hour away.Tim Horton has just about always wanted to be the HMIC.Stacey Searles may want to come back as HC. Any of those could rally the troops and keep the momentum going. And there are others. These three—especially Horton—have me excited. I know they’re ...

Re: Today could be L-Day
My #1 choice obviously is for Satt to stay and lead us to more championships and higher rankings. But... If Satt elects to leave - and with the way the early signing period is used, I'd rather Satt leave quickly and allow us to immediately and openly interview and pursue candidates. If we have a few...

Re: Early: possible replacements?
I wonder what our chances are of retaining our coaching staff with an internal hire as HC (Brown/Ponce/Ivey)? I don't see Satt completely stripping away our coaching staff if/when he leaves mainly because I don't think a P-5 program would want a coaching staff primarily made up of coaches that have ...

Re: Paul Johnson retiring at GT
I sure hope Gillin is prepared for the inevitable when it happens. From everything I've seen from Gillin, I would be more surprised if he's not prepared. We have a young successful coach that's been talked about nationally for two years now. There's no reason for a competent AD to not at least have...

Re: Safe from going back to Alabama
I like the fact that there's now somewhat of a bowl hierarchy for the SBC. Now I just hope the bowls will provide equal match-ups. I'd hate to have the SBC champion playing the 6th best C-USA team and the SBC runner-up playing the 8-9th best AAC team. It really would help G5 conferences to try and ...

Re: Rumors Upon rumors but this one is bad
Satt may be on the way out but, I don't think this one has any real legs. Satt and Troy's Brown are hot coaching names right now and their names will be thrown about for any P-5 opening in the South-East/Mid-Atlantic. The UNC position worried me, but Louisville not as much as they've been pretty ope...

Re: Sun Belt Champion going to New Orleans
The only issue I have is that the opponent is "a team from Conference USA". The SBC is Not guaranteed their conference champion or even runner-up. Keep in mind it's not a major concern for me, but I still don't like that the SBC champion could play against the 5th or 6th best C-USA team. Hopefully t...

Re: Two votes in the coach’s poll
To further YesAppCan's point, the longer we hang around 25-40 nationally the more we become a household name as a top tier G5 and it is easier for pollsters to put us in their top 25. We want to be in a position to START the season either in top 25 or also receiving votes. That is how you work the ...

Re: We rise....
I'd like to see an 8 team playoff as that's the only way I can see a G5 team having an opportunity. Otherwise, while there are some tweaks I'd like to see, I actually like the bowl system.
