Re: Special teams

What happened to our punter Howell? And I thought the hangtime Subotch has and distance was stellar. Not sure what's happened but he seems to be struggling with consistency. I have watched him in pregame the last two weeks. Hard to complain with the way X has been punting. Could also be nothing has...

Re: App State chant

Perhaps we should have a midnight yell the night before home games to practice. Oh wait, someone else already does that. I think it's worth copying though. We could call ours the Midnight Holler. I've been an advocate of this for a while. if we're going to copy someone else's tradition this is the ...

Re: AP Poll: App still ahead of UNC

After watching their game, UNC has definitely improved. However, South Carolina stunk the field up. I think most voters are a little cautious in placing any faith in UNC this early in the season. If they beat Miami, I bet they'll leapfrog us. I haven't had a chance to watch UNC - USC game. Would it...

Re: App State chant

Yep, the video board has been used before to direct the APP - STATE chant. Just dig that graphic out of the moth balls and we can pretend the "We Will Rock You" chant never happened.

I don't mind the admins trying new cheers. Sometimes the idea is better than reality. This was one of those instances.

Re: Sagarin Ratings

I don't like any system that tries to place FBS and FCS teams in the same ranking. There aren't enough cross over games to generate any reliable data. I'm not saying that there aren't FCS teams that are better than FBS teams, I'm just saying that any combined ranking is inherently flawed.

Re: A few Post Game Observations from the East Side

I was in line at the beginning of the 3rd qtr when extra ice arrived on the east side. So it appeared to be more of a delivery timing issue that hopefully will be corrected by next week. The lines were ridiculous in the 1st half - I went towards the end of the 2nd qtr to get water and ice and simply...

Re: First game: ETSU

If we're controlling the game like we should and considering the new red-shirt rules, this is a prime opportunity for extended playing time for our freshmen. That can hurt the overall game stats for those that care. But, it can pay off later in the year with valuable experience for our newcomers (an...

Re: UNC parking pass

Chapel Hill Transit also offers the Tar Heel Express on Game Days. If you are just looking to get in and out of Kenan Stadium, then it's the way to go - $5 round trip per person with no charge to park. My father and I used to use it when we went to games together down there. We would park in Carrbo...

Re: CLT Observer - Season Prediction

One of the best traits I've heard about our staff is they are good at teaching the game. Drink has installed/helped install this offense 3 times already so he understands how to implement/teach the offense from scratch. Roof's well known for being a teacher of the game. I also like our schedule in t...

Where has Drink developed this reputation that recruiting is a shortcoming? All reports that I have seen would suggest the opposite.
This is what I've seen. Recruiting was one of his best strengths.

Re: App State UNC sold out in 30 minutes

.... Some casual fans think there is very little chance of getting in without season tickets. .... I disagree with #2. Our program survives on the walk-ups. My personal opinion is that it is so well known folks can walk-up and get tickets, there is little to no incentive to purchase season tickets....

Re: Orlando Sentinel 2019

Perceptions don't change overnight and excuse makers will always find something to justify their opinions. For instance, many will say that the Sun Belt may be improving, but it is only doing so because of two recent FCS acquisitions. So if two FCS teams are winning championships, what does that sa...

Re: Orlando Sentinel 2019

... Local sports radio here in Raleigh (who are mostly ACC honks) recently (as in 2019) made the statement that the Sun Belt was the worst FBS conference. My only point is that I just don't know how "close" attention many in the sports media are really paying because the Sun Belt is by far not the ...

Re: Love Eric Church but damn it stop

I don't doubt he wants to support his alma mater and that App is something he holds dear. Yet it's obvious he's a UNC fan first. It's the fence riding that seems to hurt our fans the most. He's an outward UNC fan with no other obvious connection than the Walmart type fandom we all loathe. He makes a...

Re: Yosef Club Tour

IMO the main reasons Season Ticket sales lag behind are: 1) With the hill there's no defined limit for admittance. The hill holds so many that games are nearly impossible to sell out. There's no scarcity to drive season ticket sales as there's almost 0% chance that you won't be able to just walk up ...
