Re: JMU vs. APP on ESPN2/U
2 tournament teams Not sure the Sunbelt gets in 2? Win the tourney or need to fix the bad losses to get an at large (N Illinois, Troy, UNCA) We are 2-0 against Quad 1 opponents and 2-3 against Quad 3, go figure. (7-1 against Quad 4) Right now, our only remaining non Quad 4 games are JMU (Quad 2) an...

Re: Appalachian Summer -Brad Paisley
My wife and I saw Brad Paisley on tour last summer in Spartanburg. He adds a lot of entertainment to his concerts and really puts on a show (not just singing song after song). Should be another big crowd at The Rock.

Re: Final conference ratings
This is why I don't like all the "App moving to a P4 conference" talk. Why move "up" when App can stay in the Sun Belt and the conference can continue to grow and get stronger. Let the other conferences eat each other, and focus on getting bigger and better. I love our conference for football but I...

Fun game to attend that was really never in doubt. We played some really good ball in spurts, but we need to play consistently. Coastal has a small gym that could be a tough place to play, if they were competitive.

Re: Final conference ratings
This shows SBC is basically going to move into the top 5 spot for conferences going forward with the Pac going away. There is no reason to see us doing anything other than getting stronger in the upcoming years. This is why I don't like all the "App moving to a P4 conference" talk. Why move "up" wh...

Re: Final conference ratings
Makes sense if the regular season as well as the bowls are considered, which is the right way to do it. No G5 Conference had a winning record in Bowl Games, so the Belt's 5-7 mark wasn't as bad as many claimed it was: AMERICAN (6) 3-3 .500 ACC (11) 5-6 .455 BIG 12 (9) 5-4 .555 BIG TEN (9) 6-4 .600 ...

Re: G5 Over the Last 9 Years
With the portal and NIL looking back will be difficult going forward. The landscape has changed dramatically. If you aren’t a high recruit sign to a G5, prove your worth and chase the money. Smart thing to do. While there are examples of that, I don't think it's become that prevalent. I think more ...

G5 Over the Last 9 Years
Update from a post I put together mid season 1. I would say that we have been the Most Consistent Winning G5 program and set the standard over the last 9 seasons. (some schools have had bigger Flash seasons with an NY6 game or rankings) 2. Other than Memphis, our dip was not as drastic as the other ...

Yes, the Thursday night game is at 7:00 pm. The Saturday 1/20 rematch in Boone is at 4:30.
The headline scared me for a moment, because we are heading down to watch it.

Re: App had one of the worst run defenses
We be little Little in what way? Where? App was always small on the line. Overall, this is the biggest line App has had since going to FBS. The only smallish player was Hopper, and he may be better suited as an end, but he was a menace in passing situations from nose. You can be smaller and not be ...

Re: Bowl Season
Over the last 10 years how many G5's have beaten P5's who finished the season in the top 10? I think the G5 is 4-6. But let’s be honest with ourselves. The G5 team is getting their Super Bowl and the P5 team they play doesn’t have a lot of interest in being there. I'm talking about over the course ...

Re: ULM
Having watched several of our games I have to ask, do we absolutely need to Jack this many 3's? We have size and athletic players who should be able to score in the paint. I know it's all about analytics but we seem to not really be that good from distance. Hate to harp on one particular player aga...

Re: Bowl Season
So it's the coaches fault the schools are making money hand over fist to be able to afford a higher salary? It's not like Kirby went to UGA and said "You are required to hire me because I say so!" UGA employees Kirby to navigate the college athletics environment and win games. The blame is not on t...

Re: Where are we at as Appalachian football?
I mentioned before that I hope we start churning out more pros. It's one of the few ways we can compete with NIL if we become the go to G5 to develop for the NFL. This is a list I hope we rise a lot on. https://twitter.com/TJAltimore/status/1738927075619180716?t=vu3LdEHZ_L6m1OCxjCQbPQ&s=19 How do y...

Re: Bowl Season
.500 would be very good since we're 1-4 now. That's. 200 with 7 to go. I'm just saying all the things that impact Sun Belt teams, also impact CUSA or MAC, or MW teams. A lot was posted about the Sun Belt being the best G5 conference. Bowl season is put up or shut up time. So far, its shut up time. ...

Re: Where are we at as Appalachian football?
I honestly liked the more plays per game. It has been frustrating at times over the years of our intentional slow pace of play. I think slow pace lead to stalled drives sometimes too. A little more tempo at appropriate times this year helped us. Want more! They mentioned during the bowl game broadc...

Re: 2024 Football Looking Ahead
I was encouraged to see more “read and react” type running plays late in the Cure Bowl. Castle appeared to hesitate an instant before deciding on which hole to run through, much like Wake Forest did during the successful Sam Hartman days. Maybe it was the weather or maybe Miami was just worn out, b...
