Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
As a ASU Football Hall of Famer this hire is EMBARRASSING when you consider the multiple coaches out there with App State Connections who were more qualified than this guy. Johnn Settles, greatest RB in App State history and currently coaching at Wisconsin. Has coached on every level. Ruffin McNeil...

Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
Gattis for OC?...just kidding coach Clark. Seriously though, I wonder if a few of Satt’s old teammates transition to Louisville now that we have a head coach from elsewhere. Would Ivey, Clark, etc want to stay with a new head coach if offered better positions at App and positions at UL?

Now, somebody spill what you meant about Gattis not passing the “background check”. Was that cryptic for him not having a certain quality or skill that we were seeking?

Re: Board of trustees
I just heard Justin Stepp's name pop up on a message board. I mean, he checks all the boxes we've heard so far. We heard it was an assistant at a P5 in the south Was just thinking about him earlier today. I had no idea he was at Arkansas now. Sounds like he’s done a good job on the recruiting trail.

Is Shawn Clark out of the running? The guy who orchestrated our run game, the bread and butter of our offense.

Re: Board of trustees
One name I haven’t heard that might be ready to be a head coach....Derek Jones at Duke. He’s been the DB coach under cutcliffe for 10 years and was also named Associate Head Coach this last year. Played at Ole Miss and is a native of Woodruff, SC. He seems like he would fit the persona of our progra...

Re: Board of trustees
Here is a thought why would Gattis be recruiting with Saban if he was leaving? The only source on his interview is Football Scoop. Again, Gattis did not pass the background It seems you have poopoo’d everyone but Horton, is that you AppManDG? I've not poo pood anybody just telling what I know. FWIW...

Re: Ledford
I know football is a much bigger priority at App, but when our last basketball hiring search was happening, Jim Fox’s name wasn’t even on the radar. There were lots of other names thrown around on YC and hoop dirt, which seems to be the b-ball equivalent of football scoop...just sayin.

Re: MBB vs. NCCU
This is the best I’ve seen us play in a while. T. Johnson has had maybe the best 2 games of his career and Battle and Williams are the opportunistic guys off the bench we need since Forrest is having an off day. Hope I didn’t type too soon. These defensive lapses after big leads need to be correcte...

Re: MBB vs. NCCU
Tighten up the defense and take good shots (work the ball into our big guys since we have the height advantage) and we can win. We look more talented, but central looks more disciplined on offense and defense.

Re: Can we finally admit Fox is not the answer?
I will never fault Fox for the situation he inherited. He has completely turned around the classroom which was huge. However it is very important to start winning games against peer opponents. I am very concerned with how he coaches in close games still. I agree, he now has the horses to win more g...

I always thought he would take a few of his old App State buddies with him and get them more $ too. Maybe not.

We do have an “assistant head coach” if that title means anything. He’s only coached high school outside of his time at App, though.

Re: Gameday
Louisiana looks like a much tougher program under Napier. They really gave us everything we wanted today (and weren't a pushover the first time either). Feels good to be the champs (again). Yeah, I could see the Cajuns being regulars in the SB championship for a few years, until Napier gets a P5 gi...

Re: Can we finally admit Fox is not the answer?
The bizarre thing about it to me is that it does seem like we are well coached sometimes, just not at critical moments when losing a lead or getting a loss could be imminent. I was thinking possibly 20 wins a couple weeks ago and now I think we struggle to get the 15 we got last year, just because w...
