Re: Drop men's basketball, add hockey
Since we are Mountaineers, wouldn't it make more sense to drop basketball and add a NCAA Rifle Team?

Why the hell do you care, you wanted to drop the program two days ago. I was playing devil's advocate, but you have convinced me to stick with my original point, T-Dog. It's time to say goodbye to an era that gave us such innovative coaches as Tom Apke, Houston Fancher and Jason Capel. The students...

Re: Drop men's basketball, add hockey
I would rather have Division I women's ice hockey than field hockey. First, I think the game of hockey is more exciting and would draw larger crowds. Plus, we wouldn't have an AstroTurf field issue, and given that a lot of teams are in Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, the travel costs would have to be l...

Re: 818
17,000 students on campus and a conference game vs. Furman draws 818 people! Good gracious, Mars Hill does better than this. The student body is completely apathetic to basketball and this is not going to change. If App was 16-8 instead of 11-13, does anyone really think it would make that much of ...

Neal is not improving this team. I'm afraid he is because he's all we got. He's careless with the ball and missed 4 straight at the line, but without him we lose by 15-20 tonight. I look for Burgess to give him a run for starter next season. I'm hopeful one of our recruits will take over the starti...

Re: Appalachian @ Georgia Southern - Game Thread
Do you see any evidence that we can do that? Just call me an eternal optimist. The power of positive thinking. Stranger things have happened. I would like to see us make a run, get to the dance, have a halfway competitive game and some bigger school hire Capel away to be an assistant or a head coach.

Barbie Breedlove won the SoCon tourney in a year where she should have been fired, it is a mid-major tourney anything can happen.Seattleapp wrote:Do you see any evidence that we can do that?
(Note: she then got matched up with/@ Tennessee and you can guess how that went.)

Bobby looked healthy and in good spirits. There is no doubt that he has lost a good bit of weight and that his disorder? has taken a toll and I doubt that he will ever be coaching like he did before again.

The point is we can't afford to pay two coach's salaries at the same time. We paid Houston's and Buzz's. That's one of the reasons we are where we are today. That wasn't athletics money that went to Houston. Regardless, it looks like it could have been spent on something else. A coaching search?

Capel will be the coach next year, I don't see us buying out his contract. How would I describe ASU basketball. Predictably unpredictable from game to game and even half to half. No one saw the buy out of Houston coming except the people that did it. Houston still had a winning record when he left.
