Re: New 4 game series with Charlotte
I met a few back in September during the UNCC/App game. The guys were actually pretty cool, very laid back & care a lot about the school. A lot like us. The girls, on the other hand, were almost nothing but whiney divas. One asked "WAH! Can we please leave by end of 1st quarter?! I NEED TO PUT ON MY...

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Roof haters are gonna hate. One of the reasons I see our defense numbers were up this year is because of the offense. Once up, Drink went conservative. Too many three and outs in the second half. Defense was on the field too much. Saturday we scored 35 points in the first half and none in the secon...

Re: App State players are speaking out on Twitter
I heard team meeting today at 3pm. Honestly, media and twitter make this a lose/lose situation for Drink and the players. All the data is out there before it's finalized. If it was me, I wouldn't want to give a speech without having a contract signed...I'd also be pissed that it's reported as a don...

Re: Who stays, who goes?
I am a little surprised that you guys think 3-6 current assistants would stay. That is about half the staff. Unless someone already at App gets the HC job I would have guessed they would bring in their own people. Of course there is the argument that you don't mess with what is already working, but...

Re: LT Conf Future
I've looked over the SunBelt conference history. On average, teams stay for at least 8-15 years before they transfer to another conference...which turns out to be Conference USA. So far, we've been in the 'Belt for almost 6 years now. Just need to continue for at least 4-5 more years. I know, it suc...

Re: SunBelt is a JOKE
We moved up to the Sunbelt 5 years and 5 months ago. Imagine what we will accomplish in the next 5 years and 5 moths? We have to fight and get respect on the field. Every. Single. Day. That, my friends, is a big reason why players come to App State. They WANT to fight for respect. They WANT to be t...

Conference USA is a big HELL NO. Absolutely no.
AAC is a big HELL YES. Absolutely yes. Probably just football though.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Roof would be the safe bet, but Shawn Clark is the better hire IMO.

Re: Outside Hire vs Hiring from Within
I was impressed with the coach recruiting Gillen did along with Drink for the '19 season. But this year will definitely be a little different. I say to Doug "Give the players what THEY want, not what YOU want". Shawn is a true Mountaineer & definitely knows how to pump our guys up. With impressive v...

Who stays, who goes?
Now that Coach Drunk is gone, who else do you think will be leaving? My prediction is:
Leaves: Roof, Harbison, Link, Stewart, Riley
Stays: Clark, Smith, Gasparato, Washington, Watts, Jones

Wow, great post. Do you have the link to the website that lists all bowl's winnings?AppState89 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 1:14 amBelk Bowl Charlotte, NC $4,505,556 <-----------
New Orleans Bowl New Orleans, LA $925,000
This is another reason for hoping we go to the Belk Bowl.

I've never visited their discussion board website, but I have visited their alumni website. Not that many chapters around. A bit disappointing but why should I care, I didn't go there.

Re: Greensboro Chapter?
I am not sure if Burlington has a chapter, but they did a viewing party at a bar and restaurant a few years ago. That was the only viewing party I am aware of in Burlington, though I may be missing the notices. I generally go to the Greensboro viewing party but I did do the Burlington that one time...

Re: Greensboro Chapter?
Unfortunately, I couldn't attend any of the viewing parties. However I was very impressed with how many were offered throughout the country. Especially here in NC; one in very city in the piedmont, RTP area, coastal area etc. Keep it up ASU Alumni! I'm especially relieved to see the Greensboro Chap...

Re: Belk Bowl?
Wouldn't it make economic sense for everyone if THIS particular year, App played in the Belk bowl and Louisiana played in the New Orleans bowl? I've said this before. ULL and Tulane had 54,728 at the New Orleans Bowl in 2013. I can promise that New Orleans wants ULL and La Tech playing. They will b...

Praise God the Greensboro (or Piedmont/Triad) is back in action. Special thanks to Stewart Farris for taking over. Looking forward to watch Saturday's game @ Mac's Speed Shop!

Re: Belk Bowl?
No. The Sun Belt has five bowl tie-ins that are mandatory. If we make a New Year's six bowl, we may go to the New Year's six bowl. Otherwise, we go to one of the five mandatory Sun Belt tie-ins. Those are the options. The only options. Ethan Joyce did an excellent article on the available options a...

Re: Rival??
I was at App '04-'10. IMO, GSUck & the Purple Pansies (Furman) were the most hated. Especially after the '05-'06 season when Furman beat us during the season but us upsetting them in the playoff semifinals. But no matter what, I never hated Western a bit. Even when they beat us for the 1st time in 7...
