Re: Old Crow Medicine Show/ Boone
"Wagon Wheel is the Free Bird of this generation." If true I feel for "this generation". That's over-the-top. This generation will be fine. Those that criticize this generation should remember where it came from. The only thing "over the top" is comparing Wagon Wheel to one of the iconic rock songs...

Re: More "Carolina Way" News
All charges against UNC guard P.J. Hairston stemming from his June 5 arrest have been dismissed. Money talks What else could we expect from a school which graduates more lawyers than any other school in NC? Dismissed and not guilty, obviously, are two different things. If it was an ASU student vs t...

Re: University to address high risk drinking behaviors
I agree that the article and the ideas suggested in it are totally ridiculous. I don't quite understand why that meant that JCline and anyone else who expresses an opinion different from yours has to be insulted though. The idea of a pub crawl is fine if it's done correctly. Most of the time, it in...

I was speaking more of te frequency and context of the song being played.appdaze wrote:Gonzo wrote:Wagon Wheel is the Free Bird of this generation.
Sorry, not even close. Pretty good song though, Dylan sure knew how to write.

Re: Old Crow Medicine Show/ Boone
Saw them every semester at legends when I was at App before they hit it big. Every member plays every instrument at some point in their show. One of the many highlights of undergrad.
Oh, and I love country music, but Hootie ruined the song for me. Wagon Wheel is the Free Bird of this generation.

Re: University to address high risk drinking behaviors
I think the University gets involved in these kinds of things because they are trying to lookout for the welfare of the students. There is also something else to consider though and that is liability. If they do not go on record as trying to stop dangerous behavior such as over indulgence the liabi...

Re: 49 Problems - Analyzing the Charlotte Effect
I do agree that Charlotte will probably fall between ODU and GSU in terms of initial success. Their early entry into FBS will help with recruiting but it makes for a tough road in terms of competition. ODU did a great job, but their success was aided by the downturn in the CAA about the time they e...

Re: University to address high risk drinking behaviors
If the timing is your only issue I guess that's fair enough, but JCline and what ever rubes compiled that list are seriously out of touch. Alcohol is not fundamentally evil and it is not their place to try and change a fun and vibrant college culture involving sovereign businesses and of-age adults,...

Yep. You can literally major in beer at App. I wish that was the case when I was there. I did all the homework for no credits.ASUMountaineer wrote:Isn't this the same university that offers a "fermentation sciences" class?

Re: University to address high risk drinking behaviors
What about this all day "pub crawl" being promoted by many of the bars in Boone (and some in Blowing Rock?! Driving?) on opening weekend, Saturday, of school this year?? which happens to be FanFest day which is supposed to be family friendly...is that a good tone to set for the year? I think not. Y...

Ah the beauty of major media markets. Doubt any non-alumni will seek it out, but they could get some viewership from channel surfers or basic cable subscribers expecting Moesha reruns.

From the 9er board:
"I say let's play them in everything and put them in their place, at the damn kid's table. "
I'd love to whip them in baseball too. That's big talk for a soccer school.

Re: 49 Problems - Analyzing the Charlotte Effect
I find it hilarious that a group of people that have looked down their noses at us from the get go are shaking in their boots at the concept of a game. I for one am excited for the prospect of finally giving this classless community college the ass whoopin' for which they've been begging, in '14 or...

Richey Williams, Armanti Edwards, Deandre Presley, Jamal Jackson -- Now two elite QB's in Taylor Lamb and JP?!
We have an uncanny ability to land incredible Quarterbacks.

Re: 2014 schedule
I agree with Saint's line of thinking. This notion that Bank of America Stadium is a suitable place for an App State home game is, in my opinion, overly optimistic. a) It's too expensive. It'll take a crowd of 50,000 or more to break even. If Jerry R can give $10 mil to UNCC for a stadium he might ...
