This is just another example why hickory matters so much. We need a strong satellite campus to compete for more "professional" degrees. I'm sure this chaffed some niner cheeks.

Re: Cuts at UNCA
And this type of thing is why it's so important to continue to build the hickory campus and extend our footprint. Play the long game.

Re: Cuts at UNCA
If they become employees I fully expect scholarships to go away. You pay your own tuition at that point. In the long run this could end up cheaper for schools that shelling out for yearly scholarships. I think what you will see more of isn't colleges getting rid of programs, but more athletes skipp...

Re: If you build it, they will come
If we didn't expand to hickory than one of our competitors would have. Hickory was always meant to be a long term investment. Long beyond the lives of most of us on this board. Trying to view it from any sort of short term stance is ignorant and silly. We can either expand like we did or wallow in o...

Is it bad that I wish they weren't predicting us on here yet? They have us as the AQ 12 seed in the Midwest.

Re: If you build it, they will come
Of course this is very premature as tournaments are unpredictable in CBB. But man is it fun to even speculate this stuff, typically by 2/1 we're discussing can we maybe get a one round bye in the conference tournament. This. I love App sports I'm general, but since I was a wee lad basketball has al...

Re: If you build it, they will come
Since 2000 there has been 15 or so non p5 teams to make the final 4. The new style of play, exposure for small teams, tourney expansion etc have changed it for the better. Before 2000 you had about 8 from 1980-2000 and a couple of those were that metro Conference with louisville. The modern set up m...

Re: If you build it, they will come
We are getting top 25 votes. We are good enough to win the next ten, but I’m guessing we may stumble once or twice along the way. But suppose we do win the next 9-10 games. We’d be 27-4 after getting votes at 17-4. If we are in the top 25 heading into the tournament but lose in the championship to ...

Re: If you build it, they will come
Getting media exposure helps too, but yes i mainly agree with bdg1 above, win the conference. Its our only true path. Shout out to @Nor whoever you are. I grabbed your post for this thread but CBS CBB official found you and posted it 8 hours ago. https://twitter.com/CBSSportsCBB/status/1751663551725...

Privately funded. So ticket prices won't have to go up.

How much does each student pay to subsidize the athletic dept??
It's an interesting thread to read through. There is some lively discussion about it. "Not to pick on Coastal, but 25%+ of their students are first generation, paying an avg. net price of ~$15,000K, of which over $4300 went to subsidize the Athletic Dept in FY22." https://twitter.com/TJAltimore/stat...

Re: Mount Rushmore- Howard Knob
I think when looking at this you have to separate achievements from athletic ability. We've had some great athletes that didn't snag a ton of achievements and visa versa. Cory Lynch did a ton for us but isn't in the top 20 Apps in athletic ability. An opposite example is Travaris Cadet. Probably one...

Re: Miami Fl 9 years on team
I'm more curious in what college credits and degrees he has at this point. The medical redshirt are whatever at this point. What do you do for 9 years? That's a PhD or a bachelor and 2 or so masters. The Athletic did a report on him. Turns out he has a bachelors in journalism and a masters in adver...

Re: Unlimited transferring is coming
What is the mission , the purpose of a college or university? How does this align with it ? It doesn’t. Well you could make that same argument for high school sports as well. That's why many don't have sports associated with schools in Europe. You play for clubs instead. At least at the scholastic ...

Re: Unlimited transferring is coming
Here is the issue. The NCAA has eligibility requirements and someone going into whatever season must meet minimum completed hours in order to compete. So if kid A is going into his junior year, he needs to be at a 60 credit hours minimum. If classes don’t transfer, he doesn’t play. Give it time. Th...
