Re: Could App get the invite to the AAC?
Yes, the AAC is the best G5 conference and is really the only desirable destination other than where we are. It would offer a lot but I am not in favor of accepting a football only invitation, even in the unlikely event that they made the offer. Even if there were a path offered for other sports, my...

Re: Moving Back to FCS????
I think I'm really tired of these ridiculous, fabricated scenarios. They serve absolutely no purpose. We are about to play in our fifth consecutive Bowl game and have won 4 consecutive conference titles. That's reality. Your friends should give it a try.

Re: 4:30 PM Presser to Introduce Head Football Coach
Clark isn't the polished public speaker that some others might be, so what comes across in that presser is absolutely genuine emotion. I loved seeing how absolutely happy and grateful he is to have this opportunity. I believe he is absolutely the right man for Appalachian football right now. We have...

Re: Who stays, who goes?
If Drink doesn't take his DC, Roof, with him it certainly means he doesn't have a lot of confidence in him. Lots of App fans don't have much condidence in him either, me included. His coaching record has been spotty at best. If Roof doesn't get chosen to go to Columbia, Coach Clark needs to select ...

Re: One last Drink post..I promise
I know we need to move away from Drink, stop bashing him, etc. But... Did anyone hear the ESPN show with Mike and Trey about 7:45? They played the soundbite (I have no idea how to get it and post it) from what I assume is Drink's introductory presser at Missouri. If I didn't know any better it was ...

Re: Who stays, who goes?
The tweet says: "The opportunity of a lifetime must be seized within The lifetime of the opportunity. "
Folks are assuming it means he's leaving but at least one person in the replies to his comment says that he's staying.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Sparky and Acitelli both in non-coaching roles so a coaching position might be appealing. I doubt Acitelli makes much but I would think Sparky would cost a bit.

Re: Thank you Drink
One thing that stands out that Drink did better than SS was managing the game clock. One aspect that seemed to never work though, were his "gadget plays", maybe there was, but I can't recall one that ever was successful. I'm not sure I agree about the general clock management skills going to Drink....

Re: OFFICIAL: SHAWN CLARK HC
Is WF then a “must win” game as far as NY6 implications go? If you want to have any real confidence, they're all "must win" games. Wisconsin would have some wiggle room but that is assuming no AAC team (or Boise State) has an undefeated or one loss team. Any loss technically opens the door wider fo...

Re: Who stays, who goes?
I think that any posts about the coaching staff structure at this point are basically people posting opinions or hopes. We should know more over the next two weeks. I do think Clark being confirmed as our new HC will speed up the process because we will have more current staff remain. I would think...

For the record, I have nothing against Dale Jones and I completely agree that Shawn Clark should (and I'm sure will) pick whomever he decides is best. I'll support the coaches regardless.

Re: Show some Mountain love..... be kind....
Classy post, WXAPP! There's no reason to hold any grudges toward Coach Drink and I would hope that Mountaineers would never act in a classless way towards his family! Who can blame the man for wanting his daughter to be born on the mountain! He did what he was supposed to do for the brief time he wa...

Re: OFFICIAL: SHAWN CLARK HC
Really excited for Clark, anxious to see who he promotes to DC and if he chooses to try and call plays or looks for an OC. Have I missed an announcement about Roof leaving? If he is here, Roof will be the DC. Since Drink has indicated that he is retaining the Missouri DC/DL coach, the odds of Roof ...

Re: Nate Woody and Dale Jones
I see a lot of love for Dale Jones, and he was a great position coach but my recollection was that he was pretty bad as a DC and Satterfield demoted him in order to bring in Woody. Would you guys be ok with bringing him back as a DC (if that position were open)? I would be interested in hearing peop...

Re: According to Pete Thamel...Link going with Drink
Link did an excellent job this past year but our opportunity to have a coach dedicated full time to special teams was created by Drink filling the OC role in addition to HC. We still have a budget to work with (even with the pay-out wind fall) and are limited to 10, so the question is where is that ...

Re: Bowl opponent musings
App fans get royally bent out of shape when our P5 opponents assume a dismissive attitude towards us, even when the P5 is favored. If we're not careful, we can fall into that same trap when assuming the same attitude toward other G5 teams when we're favored. There's no doubt that App is rightfully t...

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Shawn has worked side by side with Riley for a year so I imagine he has a feel for whether he has what it takes. He could be a little less talented than his brother and still be a really good hire for App. LOL Let's trust SC to build a strong staff. I would love to see Taylor Lamb back in Boone but ...
