Re: at Wake Forest

McL "I don't think they are scared of what happened in the 1990s. I think they might be avoiding us now from what we have done the last 5-6 years. Harvard has plenty of national championships, more than App has, but I would be happy to give them a go and night even place money on it, and I never bet...

Re: App 44, Duke 0

Domination of any ACC program, given the resources discrepancies, is impressive. And technically our wrestling program is still Southern Conference. No need for a "technically." We are straight up members of the SoCon for wrestling. Field Hockey might could become a SB sponsored sport but I think i...

Re: at Wake Forest

here you go! " Appalachian State and Wake Forest have agreed to postpone their nonconference game scheduled for Sept. 11 to a future year. Wake Forest's news release cited the reduced fan capacity for the game between programs separated by 86 miles. Wake Forest is a member of the Atlantic Coast Con...

Weren’t we historically some of their largest crowds? At least up until the time they stopped scheduling us?

Depending on the order as issued , they may have been subject. I don’t recall. But yes they don’t want us beating up on them .

Yep, we have beaten them 7 times and lost 15 and tied 1. But all but 1 were on Wake's home field.

Re: at Wake Forest

Our game at Wake was in 2020 and the ACC cancelled all non-conference games. Don't think it ever got re-scheduled but I thought that was supposed to happen. I thought at some point after 2020 we had Wake at Wake set up for 2024. At one point I had a daughter working at Wake and thought I might have...

So the 2025 Home schedule: NC State EKU Toledo Coastal, Marshall, Southern and 1 of (Ark St, Monroe, or Texas St) Away: Charlotte in BoA, JMU, Georgia St, ODU and either (Troy, Southern Miss or Ark St) That Toledo game should be fun. Re: School application growth 2001-2023

A chancellor that comes in and does not think football is important... will be sadly mistaken. I would like to see the FCS conferences as well. UNCG is struggling right now. They don't have football. But we also need to compare UNCG to UNCW and UNCA. All are different but all three do not have foot...

Nick Saban Retires University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban announced his retirement yesterday, stepping down after 17 seasons with the Crimson Tide. The news came 10 days after a 27-20 playoff loss to Michigan, in what became his final game at Alabama. The 72-year-old Saban is widely co...

Re: App had one of the worst run defenses

If we App fans think our own the most insufferably negative people ever, please look at any Ohio State fan blog/message board this week. Or Alabama. Or USC. And on and on. Trust me, App fans on this board and for the most part online are not the exception. People here just act the fool and run off ...

Re: App had one of the worst run defenses

Bend but don't break and score more than the other guys. Recipe for 8 or more wins. Yep. Some people have to search for negative stuff about our winning App team. If they don't go undefeated, win the conf and play in a NY6 game, the whole staff should be fired. Those folks also feel like App footba...

Re: Down Go The Heels - Yet again

I think it says something about the coaching prowess of Neal Brown, which I know everyone here is glad he has at least one more year. Again, Mack is the most overrated coach in the country as is his team every year Are Drink and Satterfield as well? I haven't googled their records, but this board h...

Re: Coach Watts to Duke

Rumors on other coaching losses, or is Watts the the only one? Have we ever lost only one assistant coach in one off season or not added a new position? If so, I sure don't remember it and I've been following App FB since 1963. At least you boys on here finally let Clark have another season. j/k

Re: Coach Watts to Duke

Hate to lose Coach Watts. He’s been a very important piece of our FBS run. Knowing the relationship he has with Coach Clark, I would assume we weren’t blindsided by this one. Going to hurt losing his recruiting prowess. Any ideas or thoughts on his replacement? GO APPS!! Vince Lombardi. If he...

That's Bart Starr from my beloved Packers back in the day and I'm sure you know it was the Lions - not Tigers

Yeah, I meant Lions. I had just read a post on FB about the Yankees and the Tigers.

Larry Hand and Bart Star

There's a pic on FB of Hand sacking Bart Star. Has anyone seen it? It showed up yesterday and I tried to cut and paste it on here to no avail. Can anyone help? App's Larry hand was a monster and lasted over a decade with the Detroit Tigers. Hand came from the day when were still in NAIA.
