Re: Appalachian Unpopular Opinions
We had plateaued with Satterfield as HC It’s probably true this is overall unpopular, but I’ve seen a surprising number of people express a similar view. It’s kind of curious considering Satt’s last team was his best (despite heavy losses from the previous team that had many predicting a semi-rebui...

Re: ETSU picks up Miami QB
The game is changing for transfers though. Especially at the "skill" positions (I personally hate that term), where programs recruit a stud EVERY year, there are going to be guys who are legit national talents / NFL prospects but they get displaced by a younger even better player. Just look at what ...

Re: Coaching Addage
YC’s hottest club is this thread. This place has everything: cliches, beating a dead horse, a misspelling, starting a new thread for no reason... How can I get your permission every time I think about starting a new thread?. Pardon the sarcasm. BTW, did the person who started the thread about mayo ...

Re: UConn leaving the AAC
If offered, App would obviously accept but App isn't in this discussion. The AAC isn't going to replace UConn with anything other than a consistently good basketball school. The VCU/Army option certainly seems to make sense! If they wanted a single school, ODU might even be a possibility. I think th...

Re: Orlando Sentinel 2019
Whether it's an issue of "not paying attention" or just a bias that is implicit in ANY pre-season poll, this ranking does seem to be way off in many cases. Opinion is a factor in any ranking....thus the bias. The issue with this one seems to be that it is very reactionary but it also seems to run ab...

Re: Predict Your Breakout Player for the 2019 Season
Someone has already mentioned Jalen Virgil and I know he's been around for a couple of years but I think last year he was a bit under utilized. It will be interesting to see whether Coach Drink's philosophy will find a way to use that speed. We now have a proven QB with an arm and a coach who likes ...

Re: Love Eric Church but damn it stop
Happens all the time. Stephen Curry's a die-hard Panthers fan & was caught cheering for the Eagles @ SB 52. Chris Kelly from Rock 92 is App State Alumni but cheers for UNC all the time. Besides, if you're offered a large sum of money to take a selfie with a coach, I'd do it. Luke Combs is better an...

Re: Improving a tradition
I like the "Welcome to the Rock" greeting just fine but I do think that it is past time for this line to be delivered by App connected people. I like Sean Connery....nothing against him at all, but he has zero connection to the university. We can have some "celebrity" alums (Yes Eric Church, Luke Co...

Re: CFN Picks App to win SBC
I didn't see Duck being targeted either. I would be interested in seeing any actual stats that might be available. This is the first and only reference I've seen stating that he was being targeted MORE than other DBs. In fact, that seems to be the opposite of most comments. Considering Georgia South...

Re: Appalachian Unpopular Opinions
Seeing Pollard succeed at Duke wouldn't be nearly as painful if his successor here at App hadn't tanked. As Smith gets things back on track, we will get more perspective. I think we will be able to accept Satterfield's success (hopefully) at Louisville because App football will continue to rise. At ...

Re: ETSU picks up Miami QB
Exactly. ETSU is good enough to serve their purpose on our schedule. We should need to actually play (unlike the Gardner Webb game last year which just got out of hand) but without huge issues, it will be a win.

Re: ETSU picks up Miami QB
Nobody is saying that we should be scared of ETSU. That would be ridiculous. Just don't take anyone for granted. Show up and play the game. There's nothing wrong with making predictions and expecting a win. We should win this game! Everyone should just understand it COULD turn into an actual game......

Re: ETSU picks up Miami QB
ETSU got a QB transfer from Temple earlier (Logan Marchi) so they will be deep at that position if this is true. I can't find anything specifying a destination. I'm sure they are both excellent quarterbacks, but neither seems to be super scary. Both are listed as pro-style QBs. It would make me more...

Wow. Interesting. Darcie was a heck of a coach but I guess we will see if she has learned how to behave.

Re: Troy transfers
I really do understand the concept of "the next game is the biggest." That being said, even from a player / team perspective I'm not sure that concept has to be applied over the summer. I can't imagine many things more de-motivating to our guys that trying to focus solely on ETSU for the entire off-...

Re: Troy transfers
I assume the "Beat ETSU" posts are generally somewhat tongue in cheek. Although they are certainly based in the "one game at a time" concept, I think they generally signal fatigue with the off-season and with off-season topics of discussion. I guess I should let the actual posters speak for themselv...

Re: Troy transfers
Looks like the coaching transition in Troy will not be seamless, but they will definitely still be tough. Some of these returning starters might be transferring because they were in danger of losing playing time. You never know.
