Re: AJC Report: Cobb New Ga. St. AD
The debt discussion is entertaining, if not disturbing. First, issuing debt for academics is different than issuing debt for athletics. One is the mission of the university while also being a public good to the state. The other is entertainment for alumni. Now there's a really broad-minded view for...

Re: Lee Wright at Youngstown State?
We seem to have one or two every season who want to push the envelope over the line. Weed 'em out, Scott. When a guy is given the student-athlete handbook and everything is explained in no uncertain terms, that should be enough. The message ought to register. When a player then chooses to tests limi...

Re: The South's Biggest Rivaly
Why can't I find Cherokee Boys Club v. Mars Hill on the ballot? Oh, it must be on page 2 w/Chapel Hell v. Dook. If the topic was NCAA basketball rivalries, then the UNC-CH vs Duke University might be apropos. As far as WCU-Mars Hill football is concerned, they are history and that is all....

UM would go for Cox's knee on every play whether he had the ball or not. IMHO, he will miss the UM and Campbell games, minimum. Probably So. Miss. Get him healthy for GaSouth. No foolish gambles, please.

Re: AJC Report: Cobb New Ga. St. AD
My memory has been refreshed on the indebtedness. The university issued 25 year bonds. We probably still have 20 years of payments to make. It's just the way things things are done in the public sector. The only other options are to get many more folks to write athletic facilities enhancement checks...

Re: AJC Report: Cobb New Ga. St. AD
All I am going to say about fundraising capabilities is, " are the facilities paid for yet?" I see you only joined the forum in 2012, so perhaps you can be viewed as a relative newcomer. The info about bonds and ASU is about as old as our campus. You can stand in the direct center of campus and loo...

Re: AJC Report: Cobb New Ga. St. AD
All I am going to say about fundraising capabilities is, " are the facilities paid for yet?" No and they won't be for many years. The debt is set up to be paid back over 21 years, There should be 13 or 14 "debt service" payments remaining to be paid. Once per year plus interest (debt service). It w...

Beasley is interim AD just announced. Edit Link: http://chancellor.appstate.edu/messages/id/39 Any chance Beasley could end up getting the job? Why not??? No. Rick is a back-patting, baby-kissing politician. He's not accustomed to working with the large amounts of money that it takes to run an enti...

In other words, if it's OK at Carolina; it should OK at Notre Dame, right? Well, maybe not. Re: AG back?
Sorry, Gonzo and everyone else...The ASU Department of Athletics has a very specific policy on these matters and it was being followed to a "T" until someone, somehow granted AG a "partial reinstatement." There is no such thing as a "partial reinstatement" in the policy. Someone, somewhere in the de...
