Re: 1-AA 2.0
There is a limited supply of funds for most schools, either the alums give to institutional improvements or NIL, most schools Alums can't do both. Special exceptions for those old school oil money of the Texas schools.

This team has a way of really taking years off some of our lives. I have never been so happy to get to an overtime. The final score looks much more comfortable than the game was. Win and advance. Go Apps!

Going to be a good day tomorrow, Yankee spring training game in Tampa at 1:05, followed by App game on ESPN+ on my phone as my lovely wife drives us home, and then my two youngest get home for spring break from their post grad schools. I feel much more comfortable about this game than I did about th...

Re: NIL college tourney. Winners split 1 mil.
I have no issues with kids that play in the game wining some money in this type of tournament. I don't think it should extend to official NCAA stuff, but for an off season or early season tournament, I have no issue.

Re: FSU threatens to go BIG10
This is hard for Seminole fans to hear but nobody wants them. The Big10 is going to have 18 teams next year. They could get to 20 if they want but if they did, FSU is so far down the pecking order that it isn’t conceivable that they get a bite. The BIG covets UNC and UVA from the ACC. They probably...

SoCon Wrestling Tournament
Ethan Oakly (2 seed) just won the title over a Cambell kid who was the #1 seed. 133 is a deep weight class in the SoCon with the top 3 finishers getting automatic qualifier for the NCAA championships. Most weight classes only get 1 auto bid. That win not only makes Oakley a champion, but it clinches...

Re: Other SB schools losing players to Transfer Portal
Just really surprised that he wasn't welcomed at Indiana. The timing of his getting in the portal combined with his coach(s) and seemingly half his JMU team going to Indiana just seemed like the place he would land. Now that he hasn't landed there, I wonder why he wasn't welcomed as he clearly appea...

You gotta love getting 3 outs with 5 pitches. App up 5-0 heading to the top of the 6th.

Re: 5+7 model close to passing. G5 would still get screwed
Not sure why so much doom and gloom outlook on here. This is just a recognition that there is now 1 less power/autonomous conference to be given a bid. There for instead of having 6 of the highest ranked conference champions the rule now has the 5 highest ranked conference champion. The highest rank...

Re: Passenger Rail study funding from 2023 Q3 and 2024 Q1
My biggest issue is that rail is just still expensive. The Brightline (owned by Japanese hedge fund) just expanded from South Florida (West Palm, Ft Lauderdale, Miami) to Orlando. The problem is that the cost is still just not reasonable. Premium round trip tickets from Orlando to Miami this past we...

Re: 2024 Spring Ball
All joking aside if after 8 games Joey has 3,200 yards (just going 400 a game) and let's say 24 TD's is he remotely in the discussion? Who is the last player from a really good G5 to even get in the discussion for the Heismann? Let's also assume we are 8-0 and Clemson is still pretty good. There is...

Re: Athletes being paid
The ironic part about it being a bunch of Dartmouth players is that the school doesn't even make any money on athletics at all so it's not like the players are sitting back and watching the school make money off their efforts. The school (and all Ivys) literally only field teams out of a belief of ...

There's been some discussion on here in the past about our seemingly reduced standards of admissions. This article points out exactly why those standards have been reduced. We are at least fortunate that our Powers That Be recognized the nationwide problem of declining applicants to colleges and wer...

Good thread . . . informative, provocative questions, even some healthy disagreement. I sure hope you didn't waste your miracle on a cabin thread, that would really...

In wrestling, we have only had 2 guys that were 2x All Americans at the Division 1 level, Mark Fee and Jonathan Millner. Those two would have to be on the short list.
