Re: Hennigan is going to be special
I doubt there is much question that opponents will try to stop the run first. We've always been a run first team. They know we're loaded at RB. App fans know we're loaded with talent at WR, but others haven't seen as much evidence there. Additionally, we'll have a brand new rookie QB. I believe (or ...

Re: Will JMU Regret Not Jumping to Sunbelt?
I have serious doubts that App would have had a smooth road, had we decided to move to (or remain) D1a in the 70's or in the 90's. Our product on the field has been strong for a long time with only brief "down" periods. I don't think that is the issue. Financially and in terms of fan support / ident...

Re: Fox
Maybe McMahon will have a chance to return at some point. That would be a great hire and you never know. The situation might be much more favorable if and when that happens. It's not officially a "miss" until the game is over and he is still a very young coach.

Everyo[tweet]ne is frustrated with the lack of wins on the basketball court. I really don't care to comment on whether Fox should return. I'm far from an expert in basketball (or any other sport for that matter) but I do h[/tweet]ave one question: Does Fox have the right supporting staff? Coaching ...

Re: Benson other G5 Commissioners Oppose Expansion
Is the idea that CFP expansion would reduce bowls because the earlier rounds would presumably be on campus sites? Or is their some other rationale? If the playoffs were to expand, I think the bowls see themselves as going the way of the NIT. The non-playoff bowl games will take on less relevance. I...

Re: Fox
There is no doubt that the team is more competitive this year. I think that is part of the frustration for some, but I'll speak for myself. It was easy to accept losing initially when we simply didn't have the horses. Now, it appears that we have some pretty good horses but they are actually "under ...

I didn't have the privilege of making it to Missoula when we played out there, but I enjoyed the Montana fans who came to Boone! I'm so sorry to hear about a loss like this. Prayers to his family and friends. RIP

Re: FCS Championship, JMU vs. NDSU, Noon, ESPN2
I watched the JMU / NDSU game Saturday....well, multi-tasking but I had it on. These are two good teams, but neither would have beaten App this past season if we played like we did in the last 4 games. If we played like we did against ULM, Texas State or UMass, we might have been in trouble. both ha...

Re: Straight up pickem .....CFP National Championship
There is Alabama.... then there is the rest of college football. That has been true for the past several years but Georgia will be better over the next two years. Chubb and Michel graduate, but Swift and Company will pick up the gauntlet. The OL is going to be unbelievable once this years true fres...

Re: Final AP
Link below http://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings/_/poll/1/week/1/year/2017/seasontype/3 I do find it interesting that we didn't get any votes for blowing out the MAC champion in the bowl. One game isn't going to get us ranked. Why would anyone expect a 9-4 Sunbelt team to get ranked in the ...

Re: Georgia State steps in it...
I don't think it would be similar to us supporting UNC, because we have a better program. It would be more similar to UNC Charlotte supporting us. No, although we are certainly beyond UNCC in our football program, UNC is the state "flagship." If you think basketball it would make more sense. GSU wa...

Re: Georgia State steps in it...
I honestly don't see a big problem with a university supporting a "sister" institution in a game like this. As someone else pointed out....GSU is trying to score public recognition points wherever possible. I'm not saying I'd love it if App did something like this, but I wouldn't lose my mind either...

Re: New DC?
Just a general comment: Promoting internally is a mixed bag, but Satterfield does show the ability to evaluate and identify talent in both players and coaches. In today's world where upward mobility often requires changing organizations, the history of internal promotions can provide an intangible t...

Re: Ranking the college football coaches in bowl games.
Wow. That's an amazingly high ranking. I'm not sure the ranking has much quantitative merit but it's great press any time App gets ranked among the likes of Alabama, Georgia and the other elites.

Re: UCF big win for g5
Setting the NY6 bowl at a goal is fine. Setting it as the benchmark against which success is measured is not reasonable. I completely "get" being disappointed when we feel the team is under performing. I just don't really agree that the NY6 goal a stated goal for the team, largely because there are ...

Re: Next DC
I was reading about the JMU DC also. Pretty impressive guy. Yes, he's an older guy so I'm not sure he's looking to leave. If he did come to App, at least he probably wouldn't be looking to jump. I assume he is either wanting a place to retire or he has found it already at JMU. I think they're paying...

Re: SoMiss vs FSU
I was trying to figure how we have 2/3 of the OL returning, but I guess he's including the TEs. I think that's a little misleading in that we do have to replace two of our starting big men with much less experienced players. I think we've had a couple of good recruiting years but that is my single b...

Re: QB next year
Also, as we’ve seen in past years, just because you’re starting the first game doesn’t mean you’ll keep the job all year. We’ve had a couple freshman QBs move into the starting job after a couple games and go on to pretty good careers. What he said! I wouldn't be surprised to see one QB in the open...

Re: First To Be A P5 Head Coach?
I imagine that Satterfield knows the university is doing everything it can within the budget available. As others pointed out, if a P5 comes calling, we will not be able to counter by out-bidding them. There are tons of variables in evaluating the "race" to a P5 head coaching position here. Brown mi...
