Re: MBB at Marshall, Saturday, Feb. 24, 6 p.m. ET, ESPN2, Cam Henderson Center, 3rd Avenue, Huntington, W.V., ew, blegh
Good results last night. Aside from the win I'm hoping the team comes home in one piece. Marshall has been playing really physical... somewhat dirty and I'm concerned about getting banged up before the tournament. At least now with the double-bye the team has a full week off (which hopefully doesn't...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
JMU doing what it can against their remaining opponents. They moved up to #50 with this most recent win and could quite possibly be in the 40s~ of net by tournament time. ESPN Bubble Watch does a decent enough job forecasting possible bids and JMU is sitting with a group of 20 looking at about 8 bid...

Big game to keep on track for the #1 seed and also makes it that much more likely that ULL is the #4 (instead of JMU god forbid). I believe that if App got lucky then they could lock the #1 seed as soon as next Saturday (presuming App wins all three and Troy drops two). App could be looking at somet...

Yah a few missed FTs & couple fewer TOS and App would be up a fair bit.
Defensively looking decent but really need to win the rebounding battle. Marshall has done a good job tipping out.

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
The only scenario where I see JMU getting an at-large is winning out + losing to Troy/ULL in the Final. If App goes 3-0 against them I don't see any scenario where the committee extends them an invite.

Two more App wins this week pretty much locks a double-bye as well.

Re: App Receiving Votes…No Longer Just One
Seems fairly obvious that the only way a good mid major like App can safely get an at large bid is to schedule (if possible) and beat 2-3 good power conference teams. Those couple of glorified scrimmage games are meaningless other than giving us a tuneup or 2. The in state peer games (UNCW, A and Q...

When you start comparing the rating systems….. they all have pluses and minuses…. The NCAA “says” they used the NET system… only to sort the teams…. Kenpom is a predictive model …. The selection committee essentially meets twice and that’s why they have to go through a ton of data in a short time… ...

Re: If you build it, they will come
It's a shame that the NET rankings are relied upon for bids. I've never really looked at them until this year- what has been the point with us typically around 200? At any rate Xavier and Villanova are about 20 spots ahead of us and are both 11-10 and are 5-5 and 4-6 respectively in their conferenc...

Re: App Receiving Votes...Well, Vote
Three of the four losses look a "bit" better overtime. Northern Illinois still falling off a cliff. Kenpom UNCA 236 >> 163 (NET 154) Troy 187 >> 144 (NET 149) Oregon St 191 >> 148 (NET 161) Troy & Oregon St could both quite possibly end up as Quad 2 losses by season end. UNCW may also play into a Qu...

Re: If you build it, they will come
Obviously you can't take anyone for granted and road games can be tough but we only have 1 game left against a team with a winning record- Marsha is 11 and 11. If by some chance we run the rest of the table does our NET actually drop? Would it help if Auburn and Oregon State kept winning or does it...

Re: App Receiving Votes...Well, Vote
Semi final meltdown against COC .Still have nightmares about that one. Late game missed foul shots did us in. Convinced if we made it to SoCin finals we had an at large bid. Yah I agree. Looking at this season, an at-large is probably off the table, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's impossibl...

Re: MBB vs Ga Southern, 6:30 p.m. ET, Thursday, Jan. 25 of the 2024th year of the Common Era, Wear Black, not as cold
Cut mark for a double-bye still looking like 11-7 most likely so a couple wins this weekend goes a long way to getting there. JMU has a pretty soft conference schedule after App, but a loss still puts them in a tighter position with Troy & Southern Miss looking decent at the moment and Marshall not ...

Re: MAC/SBC Challenge
Bummer that we didn't get Akron, but it's fair at least since SBC said NET rating would be the biggest determinate and JMU still sitting decently ahead of us. Our conference SOS is so weak that Toledo will still be a slight boost go figure.

App up to #72 in the NET Ratings as of today. Auburn & UNCW wins both aging well. Also #1 top shot blocking team in the country at the moment.

Re: App MBB vs Coastal, Saturday, Jan. 20, 4:30 p.m. ET, year two thousand and twenty four, Cure Bowl celebration game,
Regular season conference standings starting to firm up. While it's still somewhat early in the season there are probably only eight teams with viable shots at a Sunbelt bye at this point. I think 11-7 probably does it this year for a bye. So I'd say App close a lock at this point. Troy's record/rem...

Re: App MBB vs Georgia State, Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024 (MMXXIV), 5 days until Year of the Wood Dragon, 6:30 p.m. ET, ESP
Game may have an impact on which MAC opponent we get as well. I'm really hoping we get Akron again since they've pulled out from the rest of the MAC + that loss to them two seasons ago was a tough one. Unfortunately I think in all likelihood given the receny of the last matchup and JMU still hoverin...

Re: JMU vs. APP on ESPN2/U
Big win to stay the course in the conference race as well. Troy primarily by virtue of their weak ass schedule has a real shot at capturing the one seed. Hopefully App grabs the second game against JMU and they end up on the other side of the bracket.

Re: Men’s Basketball at Coastal Carolina on Thursday, January 11th in the year 2024 at 7 pm on ESPN+
Always happy with a conference win. The bottom of the Sunbelt is so bad this year it's important to keep racking these wins up. There are a couple teams like Arkansas St with lopsided easy schedules (just one matchup each vs App/JMU v two) that unfortunately may be competeting for a bye come late se...
