Panic played in Boone three times when I was a student in the 90s…Horn In the West and Varsity Gym, then played in Holmes in 2002, I suppose due to Mikey Houser being a Boone native. I agree Billy Strings would be amazing in KBS.

Re: Coach Watts to Duke
Since he’s only tight ends coach, I wonder if someone else will be hired to take on the other responsibilities that Watts had, or will an existing coach on staff inherit those? What other duties? Assistant Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator…although I know that there might not be a need for a re...

Re: Coach Watts to Duke
He’s the first person I thought of when Watts left, not because of any perceived ability or qualifications, but because he’s so close to Clark and seems to already be his right hand man.

Re: App vs Asheville in Hickory
It is everywhere lately it seems. Most of our kids friends have had it middle and high school. My son plays middle school ball in Hendersonville. Two of the teams they've played girls' teams didn't show up due to flu and strep. A couple more boys teams have been missing multiple starters for the sa...

Re: App vs Asheville in Hickory
I have been careful not to call anyone out by name after getting a lashing from a parent, but a certain player on our team is a liability on defense and cannot create his own shot with or without the ball. His hope is that his defender gets tired of standing in one spot and drops down to double tea...

Re: App vs Asheville in Hickory
UNCA is good, and favored win their conference, but a big south team shouldn’t dominate us like that. I liked our resume vs theirs entering this game, but clearly it didn’t matter. They seemed to have more energy and fluidity on both ends of the court. We need to beat in-state mid-major schools.

Re: Freshman Admission rates 2023 across conferences
Almost no one in the Sun Belt requires test scores. Most schools have moved to test optional. At App, 29% of enrolled students submitted ACT scores and 12% submitted SATs. So, 41% of students that enrolled in 2022 submitted test scores (though its possible some submitted both). By comparison at JMU...

Re: Freshman Admission rates 2023 across conferences
I think that our current higher admission rates have more to do with the fact the more higher qualified applicants apply to App who can get accepted to higher level admissions schools (UNC, etc). That doesn't mean that they end up enrolling at App, it just means that more and more students who apply...

Re: War Eggles/Plainsmen
If you didn't make it to this game in person , you missed out on a great time. The whole thing was top notch. From the players, the coaches, the Students, the band and the production by appstate sports. Nice Job AppState. It had to look good on TV. Excellent atmosphere. Just shows what we can be as...

Re: SBC Championship Game at Troy discussion
I see where JMU is claiming SBC East Championship. I realize App has one more conference loss then they do, but considering we beat them at home that sort of evens it out...at least IMO....seems like this is the beginning (or continuation) of another App SB East rivalry. They can claim to be one of...

Re: Places to watch in Hendersonville ?
AMB in Mills River is the official Asheville area alumni group viewing location now. A former student of mine who started AMB in Boone opened the new one in Mills River. They always have the games on a large projection screen. Good brews and food just outside of Hendo.
