Re: Bucs or ducks
Father-in-law is Ohio State Alumnus (couple of nephews too), thus I guess I'll pull for the Bucs. In-laws grew up in the New Philadelphia, OH area, Italian family.

Re: UNC Bowl
Did anyone else see the UNC vs. Rutgers Bowl game? UNC stank. Bad. After about the first 5 minutes of the second quarter, UNC did not want to play anymore. It never got better, although their freshman QB looked OK. App could have beaten the heels by three scores or more this year. When, oh when, wi...

Re: Beer in KBS
Are you sure that Antlers was not open in Blowing Rock in the 60's ? I know that I went there in the 70's and 80's . Even when they were shutting down PB Scots and other bars in BR, Antlers survived for quite a while. Antlers was open but beer was "bootleg" The date of August '65 sticks in my brain...

Re: Beer in KBS
When I was at App you couldn't by a beer or alcoholic beverage anywhere in Wataga County! Man the world is changing!! You couldn't buy beer or liquor in Blowing Rock? Man, that would have really sucked. No beer in Blowing Rock (only "bootleg") in the early 60's. Nearest place to get beer was Joe's ...

Re: College/App State football attendance down
App State's attendance will increase next year with winning and better weather. But the overall trend for decreasing attendance in sports is real. There are plenty of things that now compete with going to a live sporting event. Especially since Boone is the opposite of a metro region. That's why I ...

Roger that. Also, the "visitor" side (where the cameras were pointed) was tiny and vacant. Were there permanent lights at the stadium?appfanz wrote:Did you see the spot on how the coaches got to the coaching box? They had to take a series of ladders and tunnels to get there.

Re: UTC vs. UNH
I watched the game and here are a couple impressions of mine. First, ESPN didn't go to the game until after the first series was almost complete, a high school basketball game took priority. And, like previously stated the stadium was pathetic for Division I Program. It only seats 6500 and the walls...

Re: UNC BOG Intercollegiate Athletics report
I would hope they get NO vote when it comes to admissions. We (and most everyone else) already make plenty of concessions in admittance standards for athletes - just look at the profile of the general student body vs. revenue sport athletes. 2013-2014 ASU FB freshmen average SAT of 957 and GPA of 3...

Re: 2014 The Best APP Team?
This comparison was spawned from another thread about Lamb breaking one of AEs freshman records and the WOW year that Cox had. The way the 2014 team finished the season against the level of competition, there is room for discussion that this version could be the best team that APP has yet fielded. ...

Re: App State vs Jacksonville -- Thread and Stream Info
Its hard to get students (or anyone else) to come to a game when we're playing a team they've never heard of. I hope that in future years we play more SOCON teams and other nearby opponents (ETSU, Coastal, NCCU, etc.). We're not playing great, but at least we're shooting the 3 ball well for the fir...
