Some nuance there, though. All four of Seton Hall, Nova, A&M and Miss. State are probably still trying to play their way in.

Re: Basketball Scores of interest Final 2 weeks
Congrats to Wake for locking up an NIT bid last night! I think they thought they were a lock after beating Duke and then proceed to lay a couple of eggs. The thing is, the first two were on the road, where they've been consistently bad all year. After losing two in a row, no way to use complacency ...

Re: Basketball Scores of interest Final 2 weeks
Good compilation. I don't think it's likely that Princeton or McNeese St. gets an at-large bid, but you never know. I'd also say root for Michigan State (to boost JMU's profile) and the better OOC teams we played/beat (primarily Auburn, of course, but also UNCW, Toledo, etc.). In terms of the AAC, ...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
Not making the case for JMU, but at 50 they have a NET better than UVA, Northwestern, Seton Hall, Providence, and Texas A&M in Lunardi's brackets. Granted he hasn't updated his since the weekend and that likely will change. Jerry Palm at CBS has updated his and he has UVA, Ole Miss (their NET is be...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
I think you might have those 2 conferences confused with the Big 10 :o The Big 10 has been the most egregiously over rated conference in the past couple of tournaments but it may be the Big 12 this year. There's brackets that has as many 8-9 teams while the ACC might have four. No fan of the ACC bu...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
The way to go for P5 programs is to have an easy non-conference schedule and rack up lopsided wins. A case in point is Iowa State. Not suggesting they aren't a good team but here are some of the games they played in the non-conference: Date Opponent Result Location W/L Conf 11/06 WI-Grn Bay W 85-44...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
Yeah I was being a tad sarcastic. The remaining games won't boost us at all. With the win we dropped a spot to 75. Crazy system. Not sure what you mean. It appears we moved up to 73: https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings That changed from this morning whe...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
I would bet that it is very rare for two teams to meet 3 times in a season and when it does happen I'd also bet that most of the time they split the first two. That's been said for years but I'd have to see a whole bunch of examples to even put any stock in it. As mentioned above we already handled...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
Well I guess a 15 point road win should be good for a 5 point drop in the NET. Who knows? Q4 win… Yeah I was being a tad sarcastic. The remaining games won't boost us at all. Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
Hard to beat a good team three times in a season. I don’t want any part of them in the championship game. I hope they lose in the semifinals. Our only shot is to win the tournament and hope they aren’t the ones standing in the way. On the flip side, if we beat them in the championship game, that mi...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
I count probably 10 teams above us in the NET with 10+ losses. If you are a power school then you should not be 14-10 at this point. That's the equivalent of being 5-4 in football and being ranked. Also when a team plays 30 basketball games over a very long season you should be penalized all year f...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
I think it matters overall. I would rather see jmu and Troy fight it out in the semis and we get the 4th place team whomever it may be. Right now it is ULL... which we play Saturday I believe. Totally get that in terms of theoretically tiring them out and helping our chances of winning. I just mean...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
The chances of the Belt getting two bids is extremely low, but it requires Troy to loose again. If we and JMU win out (with a Troy loss) we're the 1 seed and JMU would be the 2. I a pretty sure that is the only reasonable way we could play JMU in the conference finals. Don't think it would make muc...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
The NET is similar to the old BCS formula. Highly favors “Style Points”. Its not did you win, it’s “How”? Winning close or in OT counts much less than winning by 10 or more points. All of our OT games, essentially count as losses. Our RPI is 59, JMU is 88. The exact opposite of the NET. RPI is base...

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
Losses count. App has dropped more games than they have Bad ones at that. Good news- Auburn just beat the 11th ranked team by 40… South Carolina is one of the bigger gaps between polls and efficiency rankings out there; NET had them at 45 before tonight's game. Score one for the computers, I guess.

Re: JMU on bubble but not us?
We have slightly better wins than them, largely based on beating them H2H. But those losses do make a difference. Which is why they're 55 in the NET and we're 82.
