Re: NIT
Unfortunately, it appears that may well be the case… that we will not host. I read one article today, that had us in the last four for the NIT, which would not be hosting. Much of the new changes that the NCAA has made, we’ll just have to see how it plays out. It certainly looks like this years NIT ...

Re: NIT
I’d say there is a 5-10% chance with the big dance…… I do think it’s much more likely, say 50% chance of NIT bid….. I think the all time lowest (or highest) NET to get an at large was 76……… not likely but I’ll still watch.

Re: NIT
The ESPN announcers of our game against Arky said we have a real good shot of an at-large bid to the NIT.... I think its very likely.

We may end up playing 3-4 guards…. probably start usual 5 and if GASO hits some 3’s….. then sometime in 1st half switch personnel…. In the first half GASO guards drove to the basket a fair amount…. just pick them up a little earlier…..1-0 baby

Yea, I find it funny that most “analysts “ and I use it loosely, really are looking at us and for that matter JMU and most one bid leagues, so superficially. Whatever their algorithm tells them. Whether it’s the Athletic and their software Slipshot or all the advanced stats…… so in one regard that’s...

Yes for sure…. Also it’s the 14 head coaches who made the selections. I think there are always issues with coaches making the selections…. in any sport.

Re: Sun Belt Announces 2023-24 Men’s Basketball Postseason Awards & All-Conference Teams
I’m not sure there is any particular rhyme or reason to it…. or very little. I do think our particular style of substitutions, playing 9 players and really limiting the number of minutes of our players, certainly hurts them for these individual type awards. Kerns is more concerned with winning games...

Re: Conference Tourney
I’ve mentioned this multiple times regarding schools “gaming” the system by playing excessive amount of quad 4 teams… the selection committee is aware of this… paraphrasing the Chair, “ if a team plays lots of Q4 games, they better beat the top team (s) in their conference.” 1-0 baby.

Re: MBB vs Arkansas stAte, Friday, March 1, 2024, 6:30 p.m., ESPN+, Holmes Sweet Holmes, finale, #1 Defense v #1 Offense
History is nice but no bearing…. we know the make up of this team…. easily the best constructed team…. deepest, higher performing on the road or at home… more size, not dependent on one or two scorers, plays very strong D without fouling…… and it’s pretty clear, that it will be us or JMU…..there is ...

Re: MENS MID MAJOR TOP 3
Ok… there is a lengthy very recent article from the Athletc with the current selection committee Chair all regarding the at-large selection process. NET is used as a sorting tool……. not the selection vehicle. He said they care a lot about quad 1 wins, and they divide the quad1 wins into 1A and 1B….....

Xavion said he played safety…. 6’3 190…. and crazy athletic. Kerns said at the NBA combine, Xavion would have the third highest vertical of all time.

Also teams that have good interior presence…. makes it tougher… Marshall had that…. couple of 6’10 guys and they made it hard for Spillers at 6’7 at the rim….. the good thing is that we have multiple ways to win and that’s important.

Just sayin, Troy has two tough games on the road, Arky St tonight and Louisiana… a loss in either would afford us a loss and still be regular season Champs…
