Re: Salary of Coaches

At least we pay enough that we can avoid being poached by nearly all G5 schools. What we also offer (outside of being able to live and raise a family in Boone) is a proven winner in a G5 conference with some national recognition. That is probably our biggest asset as all G5 programs are stepping sto...

Re: #21 APP State -25 to South AL

How great is it that we're in week 9 of football season and this is the #1 thing we have to argue about. Go App!

There are no "Haters" of mediocre programs. Let them hate. I will bask in the radiance of their enraged-red faces.

Re: Home and Home

West Virginia. The Battle for the Blue Ridge. I've always thought a battle between the two Mountaineers would be interesting. I like the rivalry name already. Marshall would be a cool home-home, but we seem to have surpassed their program and I think playing them would only hurt our schedule. I'm n...

Re: ESPN Bowl Predictions

That's a G5 playoff, and no thank you. No, it isn’t, but maybe I wasn’t clear on that. I’m talking about two bowl games per year pairing off the G5 conference champions. Not semifinals; no third “final” game in which the winners would play each other. Just two bowls, same as we have now, except the...

Appalayshun and Appy State in the 1st 10 seconds. Now pulling for some "style points".

Re: Running backs

The Wofford receiver would have been OK if he didn't catch the ball. The problem was he received the kickoff and then just dropped the ball down without taking a knee first.

Re: Louisville and Conley

Quite honestly, I had heard he was a good recruiter. At NC State some complained that he only recruited QBs but that was his priority there. Who is responsible recruiting our QB Baldwin. Isn't he the highest rated player APP has ever signed? I'm sure Drink was highly involved - What QB wouldn't wan...

Re: ULM game: Reserved tickets are SOLD OUT

With the limited entry/exit points on the West side (due to construction), it wouldn't surprise me if the fire marshall reduced our maximum occupancy.

Re: APP 17.5 favorite over ULM

After seeing a couple of Duke games on TV, did anyone else notice how far the opposing teams had to go to get to the visiting locker rooms? The Quinn Center is much closer in comparison.

If Hawaii wins then they will def get some votes..... They have a good team this year.
Navy (3-1) is at Tulsa (2-3). A win for Navy probably gains them a few votes as well.

Re: Top 25 / NY6 contender Games to follow this week...

Other games that may affect our chances of being ranked. (I'm using AP others receiving votes for the rankings) #29 Washington (4-2) at #33 Arizona (4-1) - I fear either winner may leapfrog us. #8 Wisconsin (5-0) > #32 Michigan St (4-2)- An MSU win would put them back in the polls Ole Miss (3-3) > #...

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)

Agree with the above, we can't lose and have a chance at the Access bowl. I believe a one loss App team would finish the season ranked but an AAC or MWC team with 1 or 2 losses would be selected before us to the NY6, too much Strength of Schedule difference to make up. I also agree that Boise is our...

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)

Only conference champions can be invited to the Access Bowl. We're in over a 2 loss UCF and the best records in the MWC West currently are Hawaii and San Diego St both at 4-1 Neither Hawaii nor SDSU have played each other so someone's gotta lose again. You can't honestly think we're not in over a 2 ...

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)

I keep a thread like this in the same context as the one I started- undefeated FBS teams. We all fully understand that App won’t be in the playoff no matter what. We all (or should) know that if we go 13-0 we do have a shot at the NY6 game. As with the ranking thing it’s fun to watch the list and j...

Re: Attendance

Most places count Tickets sold + Student attendance (since all students have access for "free" they have to actually attend to be counted). My guess is that a lot of students (and their families) decided not to go since the weather was threatening. Family day and Homecoming are always the worst as f...

Re: Attendance

This, if used properly, could end up being a blessing in disguise. The storms ended up going around us so there was no danger actually present. However the admins will have a real world example of how their severe weather plan worked/failed. I definitely agree that safe locations should be identifie...

Re: UNC favored by Vegas -3.5

David Glenn used the phrase "shock the world" to describe a possible App win. Good god is the divide that big for some folks? These comments always come from people who don't follow college football or are in the deep end of the Carolina Kool-Aid (Adult) Pool. David Glenn is not that type but he kn...
