Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I understand that NIL is a problem and it is easy to assume that these kids are making the decisions to leave. Keep in mind that isn’t always the case and sometimes these decisions to leave are encouraged for the betterment of everyone. That is true and I believe many are thinking their playing day...

Re: Second ever App state game
I’ve been a lurker for a while but try to check the site semi regularly. Several of my cousins went to App State during the Armani Edwards years and when I went to their graduation I fell in love with Boone/blowing rock. Haven’t been back to a game since but want to take my future wife on our honey...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I'd wager you are wrong. That this current system can't sustain or that power schools would have to be the ones to initiate change? That it can't (won't) be sustained. I don't like it either, but the money is there to be wasted in large power conferences. I don't think they view it as problematic l...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
We are talking about amateur athletes getting paid $25-$100k (on top of a $25k scholarship and $6k stipend annually) to play in front of maybe 5k people and on ESPN+ with less than 30k viewers. I recommend reading that sentence out loud to realize how crazy and unsustainable this is for anyone outs...

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
We are playing in the 4th best conference in baseball with one hand tied behind our back. Call it “loser’s mentality” if you must but we have a lot of real life obstacles that we have to deal with that other schools in our conference and region that don’t.

Re: Angel steps down as WBB coach
I’ll just put it all out there. YOLO Marshall WBB went and spent 60k for two recruits through NIL. That’s 30k a pop. That’s the going rate. (Janay Sanders got 25k to go to Minnesota.) The Marshall AD rolled out the red carpet for her and prioritized WBB. Caldwell’s husband was given a job on the me...

Re: Angel steps down as WBB coach
Would those type of degrees necessarily lead to more,or larger donations? Looking at our peers and their Yosef Club equivalent donor arms, ECU has the medical school and Charlotte produces engineers and their donor bases are larger and don’t generate much more than App gets from its donor base.

Re: Buy or sell? 80 team premier league
Relating it to the EPL...many of the players in the EPL have a relegation clause in their contract which basically states if their club is relegated down to the Championship League, then they have the right to seek a new team. I could see the same thing happening in this format with how open the tr...

Re: Buy or sell? 80 team premier league
Relegate all programs by geography. Five conferences of 12 based upon traditional P5 lines, five G5 conferences, and every year the bottom/top 2 flip. It would make every game in November so much fun. So you are suggesting a partnership with say the SEC and SBC and a MAC with BIG situation? Correct...

Re: Buy or sell? 80 team premier league
https://www.collegefootballdawgs.com/post/a-look-into-this-potential-80-team-college-football-super-league Includes all “P5” teams, with ND and newly added SMU to round out 7 divisions of 10 teams. The 8th division would be the top 10 G5 programs who could be relegated each season. Non-football spo...

Re: September 7, 2024
Beating them would help but I don’t think that losing to Clemson is going to impact a shot at the CFP. Winning the SBC with a win against Liberty would be more beneficial to the CFP berth as they are likely the direct competition to the access.

Re: September 7, 2024
Would you rather win the conference and play a first week bowl game of win the conference and get trucked in the CFP. No wrong answer. Both have benefits to the school.

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
I guess I didn’t fully understand the comment. Are we suggesting fully moving baseball and softball operations to a more weather friendly environment like Hickory or playing games there until mid March or early April when the weather is nicer?

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
Golf already does to an extent as they practice in Wilkesboro until Boone GC opens. I’m sure traveling 45 minutes to an hour each day for practice would be very appealing to recruits. Are we talking about baseball and softball here? Why can’t they just practice up in Boone? What’s the difference be...
