Re: Athlon mag out, Lindys PDF out

Am I being unreasonably confident/comfortable in thinking that a guy who was appointed “next man up” behind Trevor Lawrence, and then welcomed in as the starter by Dave Cutcliffe is probably a damn good QB? We’ll see how he does on the mountain (with plenty of weapons to draw!), but at first glance...

Re: Athlon mag out, Lindys PDF out

Here is another angle on the QB situation. Before I go further I state for the record Zac has done a great job for our school and taken us to another level during his years here. He fully deserves to be credited for many great games. That being said let me make my point. Last year Zac wasn't great....

Re: Athlon mag out, Lindys PDF out

To be honest, we seem to thrive in the under-dog position, so I'm not hating this. When people underestimate our guys they tend to get punished where it counts...on the field. This is definitely true. It is why I'm mad to see CCU gushed over but I'm also glad we aren't picked to win the league. Use...

Re: Athlon mag out, Lindys PDF out

I don't know why we'd need to draw motivation from some magazine picking us third in the Sun Belt when that's actually what happened last year. Reality is the best motivator. I agree that reality is best motivator but seeing the love fest by ESPN and the magazines over CCU and how we are almost for...

Re: Athlon mag out, Lindys PDF out

Brice doesn’t need to be special. He needs to read the defense and make the correct decisions. Which I don’t see a problem with him doing. It’s unfair to look at what he did at Duke and draw a conclusion on his effectiveness. A great deal of the play from him last year was indicative of factors tha...

Re: Athlon mag out, Lindys PDF out

Do Coaches actually use bulletin boards for this stuff? I am pretty sure we don't literally have one as it is just an expression. A smart coach uses what he can to motivate his team. Clark and staff need to make sure our kids hear the criticism and read the love fest by ESPN on CCU. This year needs...

Re: Athlon mag out, Lindys PDF out

Yea got the Athlon book a week ago. They do have us 8-4, 5-3...... anything can happen but SO unlikely. The time for us to go 8-4 was last season when we had 3 position groups on offense decimated by injuries..... and it did not happen then. Our defense is going to be as good or better than last se...

Athlon mag out, Lindys PDF out

Shawn Clark needs to use these mags as fuel and bulletin board material. Athlon has us going 8-4 with 3 losses in the Sun Belt. Lindy's has us as 3rd best in the SBC and definitely losing at least 3 games. How will this message board look come December if we finish 8-4 and play a 6-6 type team in a ...

Re: Transfer Portal

After watching his 2018 highlights, this young man is a very interesting add. He has good size, his athleticism shows on tape and has a mean streak/swagger which I love in a DB. But he hasn't played a game in essentially two years. What I can say though is the competition in the DB room this summer...

Re: 2025 UofSC home game pushed back to 2033

I'm thinking this is money related, d/t the lost revenue of the past season. If it is for money reasons it makes sense the more I think about it as: - it locks in a P5 school to 2 more games with us; P5 seems to be getting harder to schedule as P5 is moving towards playing less G5 and FCS teams; a ...

Re: 2025 UofSC home game pushed back to 2033

Truthfully, this is the first time I've been really disappointed with Doug Gillin. The only thing that I can think of that might have been the reason for DG to agree to this would be the possibility that KBS would be substantially bigger in 2033. Just a guess. I don’t like the optics of this either...

Re: Transfer Portal

He has three years remaining. And the Baylor offer was legit. They tried hard to get him. As far as position, Baer has been moved to center for this season to help his chances for the NFL. Helms will work from guard this year but can be an option for next year along with Luke Smith. I looked at his...

Re: Shemar Jean Charles drafted in 5th round

Should see a couple more guys picked up as UDFA’s. Maybe one or two to the CFL. Always good to see a mountaineer get drafted. With some of the names going who have major flags I'm wondering if we have anyone drafted because this group is so thin. I'm with you that we should at least see some guys s...

Re: Shemar Jean Charles drafted in 5th round

Still think this is a steal. Good luck to him. Go packers !! I agree with you that he is a really good player but imagine the fact that if this draft was not so thin he could have fallen to 7. He is definitely a steal here. I said it before and I'll say again that if he were close to 6'1 and ran a ...

Shemar Jean Charles drafted in 5th round

Green Bay Packers have selected Shemar Jean-Charles 178 overall in the 5th round!! A little surprised it was this high. I was thinking he goes in the 200-250 range but glad to see him go to a team like GB. This draft is so thin that if he is going 5 instead of 6 like the word was then I would suspec...

Re: Top 350 NFL Draft 2021 ESPN

Surprised to see Sherm not mentioned at all, and really getting no hype anywhere. He proved on the field that he is an elite cb but still nothing. Makes me really wonder if his speed isn't indicative of top NFL cb. I say that simply because the NFL is such a metric driven league and if the scouts t...

Re: Top 350 NFL Draft 2021 ESPN

Just my opinion but I think these ratings done by media folks are fine for what they are, but they aren't gospel. The scouts do a lot more work on assessments whereas the media rely heavily on the tests and metrics. SJC's measurables looked average in his workout, but the scouts know he's a gamer. ...

Re: Top 350 NFL Draft 2021 ESPN

I know (and kinda get) the P5/G5 bias... And not to sound butt hurt, but I can’t help but feel that some particular media “analysts” have it in for App State... I just can’t figure out why?! BTW, DJ has repped us well during the draft buildup, with the helmets behind him for two weeks! I'm sure the...
