Re: GAME THREAD - MBB @ Georgia State, Weds 2/22

Aside from pulling for App I think Marshall, JMU, and South Alabama are next most likely to represent the conference. I think Southern Miss & ULL are just too streaky offensively to win three games straight. Especially if they catch someone like South Alabama or Troy early on.

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB @ Georgia State, Weds 2/22

Great shooting, hope that can carry over to tomorrow, and the tournament. This site has a tiebreaker calculator: http://bball.notnothing.net/sunbelt.php?sport=mbb It looks like App gets as high as #5, but for that to occur App needs a win + Troy needs to lose and likely South Alabama. Too bad ULM co...

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB @ Georgia State, Weds 2/22

Hope they can get it done tonight and Friday. World of difference between those seed lines. Opening game with any of the bottom four teams leaves a great opportunity for a win and a likely path that includes JMU/ULL. Way more viable then matching up with South Alabama & Southern Miss. Louisiana has ...

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB vs Texas State, Thurs 2/16 6:30pm

A little earlier weekend start times would be a huge help for day trips especially with all the Charlotte alumni. I'm sure I watch more App basketball on TV than most, but I doubt more than a handful more people from Charlotte are driving up to Boone no matter what time the game starts. 4 hours of ...

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB vs Old Dominion, Sat 2/18 4pm

ODU has most tiebreakers with us now. Two App Wins & ODU or Troy loss is enough for a 5/6 seed in most scenarios.

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB vs Texas State, Thurs 2/16 6:30pm

Student attendance is important and certainly creates the needed atmosphere in the arena. However, student attendance brings in no additional revenue. We need folks to purchase tickets. That's tough for those of us who are 3+ hours away. For those who live west of I-85 get on up that mountain. :D T...

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB vs Old Dominion, Sat 2/18 4pm

Other the ODU nabbing some gnarly rebounds not bad. Couple bad foul calls but they went both ways so wash.

South Alabama looking strong again against ULM. They’re going to be a tough out in tournament. I could absolutely see them knocking off a top seed.

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB vs Texas State, Thurs 2/16 6:30pm

Big game with ODU for the 5/6 seed. There is a marked drop in strength with those bottom four seeds. And based on the last few games Southern Alabama at 8/9 is looking like a dangerous seed for one of the top couple teams. Most the scenarios have App either at the 6 line or 9 line so very marked dif...

Kind of a cool tool here for the Sunbelt seeding.

JMUs loss last night helps quite a bit. Even though series is tied they win pretty much all likely tiebreaker scenarios by virtue of the Marshall win.

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB at ULM, Thursday 2/9 7:30pm

Yah I think tonight is probably a must win for the Top 4. Marshall has the tiebreakers with us and I don't see them losing four more games. JMU's schedule is still tough to close out so I think if App wins out they still grab the #4 seed.

Big game for seeding/tiebreaking purposes not to mention the double-bye is still not fully out of reach.

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB vs James Madison, Sat 2/4 4pm

I'm not sure where the rose colored glasses for Teasett are coming from. He had a rough stretch of games prior to being sat. There are a couple games in particular where he had really bad turnovers. If his stats looked more like last year absolutely he'd be a help, but there is a reason he's not pla...

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB vs Marshall - Thurs 2/2 6:30pm

Agree App played well, Marshall was just better yesterday. It does feel like slipped away a bit, but App played good defense so not sure I'll give them that.

The JMU & ULM games hold outsized importance now for the double bye spot.

Fine with our defense sans some missed rebounds but agreed got to work it inside. It was/is working.

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB vs Marshall - Thurs 2/2 6:30pm

Oddly enough a loss for Marshall today could put them on the outside looking in for the byes. They'd be very tough five seed.

Is there any word on Boykin's return?

Nice win! Probably thinnest bench we’ve played this season with Pearson getting the quick fouls.

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB at Coastal Carolina, Thurs Jan 19, 7pm

Tough loss especially with Walker playing lights out. Offensively the team played pretty well. Good FT shooting. But defensively a whole different story. We couldn't seem to find an answer for anything. I think having a shorter rotation was a factor, but the staff is going to need to find somebody e...
