Re: If by some miracle
Cure has the last pick so they will be the one that doesn't take a SBC team. Most likely true, but the selection order isn't hard and fast - the conference and schools will work with the bowls to try and match teams/destinations that make the most sense for everyone. So, hypothetically, let's say t...

Re: If by some miracle
The bowls don't have any requirements or even guidelines, really, relating to following the conference standings, so it doesn't really matter.

Re: Hosting "The U"
Hope we don't do away with the half-season plans. As much as I love football Saturdays in Boone, it's just not realistic for me to make the six-hour round trip six times in three months right now. And I know we have many alumni around Charlotte, the Triad and the Triangle who are in the same boat. T...

Re: Fritz shopping around
Is Fritz really that good of a coach? What are his best three wins the last two years, think about it. Wrote this after we beat them, but basically Southern has established that they're better than teams 5-11 in the Sun Belt. I do think he's a good coach - they consistently beat all those SBC teams...

Re: G5 Top 10, Week 12: And Then There Were None
For those keeping track, Ohio threw a wrench into the access bowl race tonight by upsetting Northern Illinois, which means Toledo can get to the MAC title game by beating Western Michigan. Basically, if Navy wins out, they're getting the access bid. But if Houston or Temple wins the AAC, it could be...

Also have to consider that this could be a ploy to squeeze Southern for more money.

Re: Hosting "The U"
This is truly awesome. Have App tickets ever legitimately gone on sale on Stub Hub? This might be the time. Going to be a tough ticket. I wonder if some Miami folks will buy season tickets in order to insure a good seat for this one? I seem to recall hearing that a lot of Alabama people did that wh...

Re: Hosting "The U"
Seriously, big thanks and congrats to Doug Gillin and his staff. This is the kind of game a lot of people thought it would take years (and millions of dollars in stadium expansion) to schedule. Goes to show what you can do with an AD who's resourceful, aggressive, and has a vision. (And no, that's n...

Re: Fritz shopping around
I don't fault him for being interested in a P5 job, but the fact that 1) he's having someone leak his interest that publicly and obviously, and 2) for one of the worst P5 jobs in the country, would not make me feel great as a Southern fan. Not to mention the quote kind of implies that he thinks he's...

Re: POLL: Which Bowl would be your 1st choice?
It seems the overwhelming majority seem to prefer Orlando. Someone please educate me as to why? The opponent more than likely will not be the best. I do understand ECU being attractive and Cinci offers a name but any other 6-6 AAC is a yawner for me. Not to say they are bad teams I just really woul...

Re: POLL: Which Bowl would be your 1st choice?
I do still think the Cure is an appealing option for sure. I'm hoping once they're a little more established, they might move up the pecking order for both the Sun Belt and AAC.

Re: Just Feels Good
First of all, the CBS 128 might be the worst rankings out there once you get past the top 25 or so. There are a lot of teams on that list I think we are legitimately better than (a few by a significant margin). There are also a lot that I think are a little better than us, but that we could beat wit...

Re: POLL: Which Bowl would be your 1st choice?
Personally I'd prefer the Cure based on matchup with AAC. As long as we get one on the 19th I should be able to go. This was my thought before the season, but keep in mind we'd likely be playing a 6-6 team, and possibly one with little name value like Tulsa (though yes, ECU would also be very much ...

Re: LaLa Scouting Report?
We need to bring the house at them relentlessly!! What is the word on our injury situation? Will we have any of our injured OLine guys back? Chapman played last game, so I would assume he'd be OK after an extra week off. Nunn has already been announced as done for at least the regular season. I thi...

Re: LaLa Scouting Report?
82nd nationally in passing ypg, 97th in passer rating, 93rd in ypa. Not exactly terrifying. They've played two QBs roughly evenly this year, though I'm not sure if that's due to injury or just trying to find something that works. The QB who's playing now, Haack, seems to be more of a pocket passer. ...

Re: APP vs Tulane Sunday 4.30 espn3
I don't think we have a JV team, but I'm sure the walk-ons are used as a "practice squad" - that's the main job of most walk-ons in any program.

Re: Just Feels Good
I think our shot at the top 25 evaporated with the loss to A-State. I do think we might get a decent number of votes if we finish 11-2 though.
