Re: Apps In The Pros Mega Thread
3 was coming off an injury from the prior year. I believe he only played on special teams for a while due to the injury and coming back from the injury.
Once he got more healthy, he got more run. Given the OL struggles with run game, 3 was the best back. Last year, 3 appeared to find an opening up the middle or between the tackles. Roberts is better off tackle as that is what he did primarily in HS. I think he has made strides on the between the tackles aspect. Year 1, Roberts had tendency to run up the back of the guard or tackle as he was not used to finding the hole or waiting a second for the hole. However, 3 was better last year on those types of runs. Roberts continues to improve when not injured. As stated above, if OL gels better than last year, Roberts (or one of the transfers) can have a good year hopefully. Just my opinion

I do remember the injury but did the staff ever list him as first-string when he was healthy? He was our best back by far. I remember seeing flashes and wondering if he had off field issues or injuries prior because it seemed apparent he should see the field more. Wish we would have had him for the entire year.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 8:31 am3 was coming off an injury from the prior year. I heard one highlight where someone said App so that had me curious. I did not watch full game. I kind of ignore preseason for most part until final week. I can't get emotionally invested in my team winning or losing games that don't count lol.

Also if you rewatch the 2nd TD pass by Shedeur you will see Marshall pickup the blitz which allows Sanders to slide and make the pass - that move most likely earned him more accolades than anything else he could have done.

Absolutely! Not saying we should have gone 11-0 but we could have gone 8-3. I don't think we quite had the talent of a playoff team like many of us thought at first though. We missed way too much on the OL and DL but we could have won 2-3 more games for sure.

Re: Apps In The Pros Mega Thread
How do coaches now persuade good talent in the Portal to come to App? With traditional high school recruiting it’s often a year or longer established relationship but now how do they get players and not just roster fillers?

Recruit the tweener SEC kids in HS, when they go to the SEC school and get lost on the depth chart bring them up the mountain.
But that strategy requires staying in one place for 3-4 years.
What DL did this year may be a successful strategy.
- 19 High Schoolers
- 18 P4 Transfers
- 5 G5 Transfers
- 5 FCS Transfers
I want to count the number of transfers on the two deep on October 1st and see where/if they landed.

Re: Apps In The Pros Mega Thread
That would be an interesting stat to see- overall players who transferred who made the 2 deep roster of the teams they joined. The caveat for me would be that on the team they left they were not that high on their depth chart.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 3:46 pmRecruit the tweener SEC kids in HS, when they go to the SEC school and get lost on the depth chart bring them up the mountain.

Re: Apps In The Pros Mega Thread
He is getting to the point where he is going to have to be available or you could see him get cut. Hope he can get healthy quick.
Cooper Hodges is on IR for the year. They could have come to an injury settlement but he has looked so good prior to injury last year that they want to see how rehab goes. Scherff has retired so they could use him. Many have retired with his injuries so fingers crossed he can bounce back as well.
