Re: Armanti to the CFL
To little or no announcement it appears that AE has retired. No mention on his Twitter account, or from the Roughriders, however in the local Regina newspaper report on training camp, he is listed as "retired." He is no longer on the roster at riderville.com

What does the asterisk by his and another couple players' names mean when one doesn't have an asterisk?MtnDevil95 wrote:To little or no announcement it appears that AE has retired. International player - which I would guess would just about be the same as from the USA. There are minimums on the number of Canadians that have to be on a CFL roster.NewApp wrote:What does the asterisk by his and another couple players' names mean when one doesn't have an asterisk?MtnDevil95 wrote:To little or no announcement it appears that AE has retired. Re: Armanti to the CFL
Not sure what happened here but Armanti was screwed as soon as the Panthers picked him and tried to make him a receiver. John Fox essentially skewered the guy as a FU to Hurney and Richardson.
It's a damn shame. I think he would have got a shot as QB if he would have fallen to later rounds. Maybe he doesn't cut it but the dude is/was and forever will be a QB.

Re: Armanti to the CFL
The Roughriders have activated Armanti Edwards from retirement! Just in time for their season opened in Regina this coming Thursday, June 30. A game for which I will be in attendance (wife grew up there)!!
oh and edit to add the game will be on ESPN2 on Thursday night, kick-off at 10:00 Eastern.

I am not sure how things work in the CFL, but I like the sound of "activated."MtnDevil95 wrote:The Roughriders have activated Armanti Edwards from retirement! One of 6 WRs on the roster. Only two QBs on roster so AE may be the emergency QB. The starting QB is a 33 year old former Tarheel. The second is the Coleman kid from Chatt.

Wow, I didn't realize Darian Durant was still playing. Hopefully he'll connect with Armanti for a TD

Re: Armanti to the CFL
Not to mention that the 2 back-up QBs were signed to the roster last week! Neither were on the team during training camp, and the Coleman kid will be like Armanti with no Canadian rules experience.
It'll be interesting, the Riders posted the worst record in club history last year, fired the HC early in the season, fired the GM midway through the season, and then failed to resign 4 of the biggest names on their offence (2 RB and 2 WR) after the season. Durant was out for 16 of the 18 games, but there's been turmoil in the organization. Among those shuffled out were Mark LeGree (named Rookie of the Year in the 2014 season) and Steven Miller, who's performance while the starting RB was injured, left the starter on the bench even after his injury healed. Said starter made some noise about coaching and next thing you know Miller is cut and the OC is gone. Now none of them are on the team. The Riders could definitely use some Armanti athleticism and winning ways!

The Roughriders sure seem to think AE's playing. He's on the most recent active roster...

That's a determined look on Armanti's face. He looks like he might knock your helmet off running through or over youasu66 wrote:The Roughriders sure seem to think AE's playing. He's on the most recent active roster...

Re: Armanti to the CFL
I looked at the CFL transactions back through 6/13 and I didn't see Armanti's name on any of the transaction lists.

Re: Armanti to the CFL
He's not on the depth chart for tomorrow's game or the Rider's roster listing anywhere. They've not released any roster moves yet today, so who knows what's going on?
Ed Gainey is on the 1-game injured list as of this morning as well, so will not play in tomorrow's game. There goes my chance at watching an alum on the field tomorrow night. . .

Their Twitter page just released a vine that had him in it. Who the heck knows what's going on with these crazy Canucks!
