I always thought that Pearson should have had much better numbers but we just never threw to him as much as I would have liked. I was thinking the same thing about his blocking skills and my guess is that is why he did not get the targets. I felt like we left some production on the field by utilizing him and Virgil in their last years when we could have got more pass yardage by targeting them. I never expected Pearson to make the 53 but when he signed I thought he would be a great practice squad candidate since he would give them a backup fullback and give a good look for the scout team defense as h-back or tight along with fullback duties, depending on who they have to prep for.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 9:58 pmAbsolutely. The H-Back is making a comeback in today's game of football, and for good reason.
It's a versatile football position that allows offenses to deploy different tactics to keep defenses guessing.
The H-Back is a hybrid position -- a combination of a traditional tight end and a traditional fullback.
This is why players who want to become H-Backs need to develop a hybrid set of skills.
They need to be athletic and sure-handed like tight ends, but also big, strong, and not afraid of contact -- like fullbacks.
I don't know enough about the Packers, but would assume they use the FB in a similar fashion as 49ers, Rams, Dolphins, etc as they all come from the same coaching tree. In that offense, the FB is used primarily as a lead blocker but with route responsibilities. Pearson, if he catches on to the lead blocker responsibilities quickly, will be great at that.
But, he has to catch on quick. He was an above average blocker for a receiving tight end, but wasn't a good enough blocker to be an in-line TE.

Too bad the Can'thers missed using a draft pick to his strength but tried to make him a no fit. So our GOAT is not on their list.

Re: Update on NFL info
Excerpt: 53 man roster projection
Running back (3)
Who’s in:Miles Sanders, Chuba Hubbard, Raheem Blackshear
Who’s out: Camerun Peoples, Spencer Brown
Based on the way the Panthers have lined up reps over the duration of the summer, it feels like the running back group will be limited to three players with a caveat.
Wideout Laviska Shenault is built like a running back and can be used regularly as a situational rusher, giving the Panthers some wiggle room with their numbers at the position. Sanders will lead the backfield while Hubbard supports him as a change-of-pace back. Blackshear is Reich’s new Nyheim Hines-like gadget weapon.

Cam never seemed to "want it" bad enough. It remains to be seen what would happen if he put his whole soul into the game.

RB’s gotta leave early when they have a chance. Their clock ticks FAST. Sony Michel and Stetson Bennett were on the same 2017 UGA team. Stetson Bennett will be a rookie in the NFL in 2023 and Sony Michel won 2 superbowls and is already retired from the NFL.Parks&RecAPP wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 4:24 pmIf you follow him on one of his two Instagram accounts he seems more concerned with his aspiring rap career and lifestyle youtube channel.

Re: Update on NFL info
Fully expected. I had heard from some people I know in the biz that Peoples was really liked just based on talent heading into the season, same with Hampton, but as teams uncovered more they realized Cam had a lot of flags. He has a track mentality, does not really love football, struggles to stay healthy, sits out games even when healthy, etc. I remember saying on here that I thought Hampton and Hodges were our two best and I believe both of them are going to make a 53-man roster. I think both of them make the 53-man roster and actually see time on the field this year.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 1:00 pmExcerpt: 53 man roster projection

Steven Jones and Henry Pearson are the two that I will really be curious to see what happens with them on cut day. Jones is listed third team with some others on the Titans depth chart while Pearson is the 2nd fullback on Green Bay's depth chart. Anderson Hardy is not even listed on the Chiefs depth chart but I don't get why they moved him from tackle to center. I am guessing he will be in the USFL, XFL, or CFL in a few weeks unless he starts to move up the depth chart. I always thought he would be a solid player in one of those leagues but just not the same caliber as Hodges.

Re: Update on NFL info
If you think about it Cam would have been better to come out at the North Texas game with all we know now. Since then he has been hurt or not able to improve much. It really is a shame because when I first saw him as a freshman he had a chance to be a 2-3 time 1,000 yard rusher and future draft pick but he just never was able to do it. I do hope he has his degree and wish him well. I just hope he does not look back with regret and wonder if he squandered it away in a few years from now.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 5:13 pmRB’s gotta leave early when they have a chance. Really hated to read that. Hodges is injured as well. I just hope both injuries don't cost these two their spots on a 53-man roster.

Both were on track to make the 53 .I got to know them a little while they were in Boone , this is a double gut punch.

Re: Update on NFL info
If you look at the endzone view of the game it looked worse than results of the MRI that said everything is intact it appears. The Jags are likely waiting to 2-3 weeks to see if it heals on own or will require surgery. If it heals on own then he will be on the 53-man roster to start season. If he needs surgery, they will put him on the shortest IR and activate him a few weeks into the season.

Re: Update on NFL info
Unless something bad happens Hodges and Hampton will for sure be on the 53-man roster. I don't see Peoples makes the 53 since he has yet to play a down in preseason. They might put him on practice squad because of tools but his chances likely get even lower when running backs who looked solid in preseason get cut and are available for Carolina to pick up.

Re: Update on NFL info
I was going through and counting plays for our guys and here are some interesting numbers.
Hampton played 51 defensive snaps in two games and 11 on special teams. He played 22 snaps against Raiders and they were all in the 1st, 2nd, and early 3rd quarter so he should be safe.
Hodges actually led entire team in their first game and has played in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter at some point this preseason.
Camerun Peoples- Has not played a snap due to injury.
Henry Pearson- Played 13 offensive snaps in first game and just 3 in second game. He played 15 special teams snaps in game 1 and 7 against the Patriots in game 2. All 3 offensive snaps against the Pats came in the 2nd quarter and he was a blocker on run plays. Only had 1 play where he really helped in it. I am thinking he is fighting for a practice squad spot but his special teams play has been below average.
Steven Jones- He played 22 snaps against Bears and 9 against the Vikings on offense. He played all his defensive snaps in the 3rd quarter and 1 special teams snap in 4th quarter against the Vikings. He played 5 special teams snaps against Bears and 1 against the Vikings. He had a nice PBU against the Vikings and I have heard he has been pretty good and should at least make the practice squad. He broke up a pass in the
Anderson Hardy- Hardy is lining up at left guard instead of the listed center on roster. He played 20 offensive snaps against the Saints and all in the 4th quarter. He played 13 against the Cardinals and all in the 4th quarter as well. He had a better game against the Cardinals. It sounds like he has been inconsistent and has been playing against players who will get cut instead of dominating like you want a player who will make it.
