John Settle has been let go as RB coach of the Panthers. He was there for 2 seasons. Don't think the running game has particularly struggled... more often the playcalling. May have just been looking for a scapegoat.

Couldn't have said it better myself...
On the other hand, there's always room on the staff here for another RB coach!

If only that were true, I feel certain we could put together a good offer for Settle. Unfortunately, we are within one coach of our maximum of 11 on-field coaches plus a strength and conditioning coach. The staff will be complete once we bring Coach Woody aboard. Of course, there is the case of what happens with Coach Blaylock; but Woody will want either Blaylock or that slot for hiring a defensive coach.
NCAA rules specify how many types of coaches
are allowed in a football program
http://www.annarbor.com/sports/um-footb ... l-coaches/
11.7.3 Championship Subdivision Football - There shall be a limit of 11 coaches of any type who may be employed by an institution in championship subdivision football.
11.7.3.1 Exceptions to Number Limits FCS - No individual other than coaches designated to fill the coaching categories set forth in Bylaw 11.7.3 may participate in any manner in the coaching of the intercollegiate team of a member institution during any football game, practice or other organized activity, with the following exceptions:
11.7.3.1.1 Weight or Strength Coach FCS - A weight (strength and conditioning) coach may conduct flexibility, warm-up and physical conditioning activities prior to any game and prior to or during any practice or other organized activities without being included in the limitations on number of coaches.
11.7.3.1.2 Undergraduate Coach FCS - The limits on the number of coaches in this section do not apply to undergraduate coaches.

Dale Jones will be the Dline coach, or maintain the LB and Woody takes the Dline. Assuming Jones stays. Remember we are adding another coach on O.

Ron Rivera can sit on a tall one. John Settle had nothing to do with the Panthers' offensive struggles this season. There are people who hold higher accountability for their offensive woes.

Scapegoat. Eventually, if this team can't win, JR has to answer for it. But, I'm sure he'll put that day off as long as he can.

Someone has to take the blame for the mess that was the Panthers this year. Settle and the Belin the LB coach were the scapegoats. The running backs played well when they were finally used properly. The bigger question would be why would you fire the linebacker coach. I would put the Panthers Linebackers up against any in the NFL this season. If you are going to fire and assistant, then why not the QB coach. Cam has been in the league for two years now. He still throws high and his mechanics are aweful. That falls on the shoulders of the QB coach.
