Very nice! So, this appears to be a "projected contract." Any chance it will go up? Also, anybody know the number of years they base these on?

Rookie contracts are for 4 years. Based on the Cap hit, they both should make a base of $610k in year one.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure. Glad to see the App guys making good! That's almost as much as I made my first year out of college! Bahhahahahaha!

Happy for these guys. They deserve it. A lot of people thought Evans was making a big mistake by going early. Calculated move that paid off.

Serious question, Where did Duck end up last year? I truly don't think I ever heard anything on him.

Canada.... And I know what hindsight is. But I can’t help but think (given the huge amount of DB’s taken in this draft) if he’d stayed for this past season, he would be right there with DE and ADG... That being said, I’m sure he had his own good reasons for his decision not to, and I’m not bashing him for it.... But damn...

I hope these guys buy themselves each a new car and some cool stuff as a reward for the sacrifice and hard work to get to this point. They deserve it. Don't blow it all at once but dang, congratulations to them. Cool to see the American dream come true.

I hope they a $40k car, couple years used, and buy blue chips stocks on a dip and hold it for 20 years.

This is a great time to come into a bunch of money like that. Lots of stocks are undervalued and will be excellent investment opportunities as things eventually normalize. They should definitely enjoy a piece of that money but hope they invest a chunk for their (and their family's) future.

I was really disappointed when Duck left early but I thought he made a reasonable choice. I was surprised he didn't even get invited to camp (I believe). But, with all the time on my hands I've been watching App State football games on Youtube. Though I was never able find a full version of the Penn State game there's a good 20+ minute highlight version. There were just too many Penn State highlights involving Duck to help his NFL case...he got burned badly. He should have stayed but I'm not sure he would have done better against UNC or USC than Penn State.

First the only $ guaranteed is the signing bonus. Net after tax approx about $575,000. Off the gross is agents $. 5-7%.
Bank as much as you can the first years. I’d be buying nothing but Treasuries and Utilities year 1

21 or 22, buy and hold stocks. Put it in and ride the ride for 30 years, no brainer.

Don’t these guys have other stuff deducted like union dues and insurance, etc? Also I think their bonus money, for cap purposes is spread over the duration of the contract. Wouldn’t that equate to about $150k or so in bonus money year one along with the small pay? Of course that doesn’t start until game one. Really not a ton of money up front. I have read about some guys who demand all of the bonus up front but for most I think it’s spread.

The distribution of the bonus isn’t necessarily done in time with the contract. That amount is probably paid out at once. Joe Burrows is probably spread out into a few payments. The prorate amount is what affects the cap. If they each put 50k in a mutual fund and let it ride, they are multimillionaires at 59 1/2 regardless of what they do with the rest of the money.
