ASU alum relieved of his duties. Alvin's a good man but couldn't overcome the injury bug most of his time there. I hope he lands on his feet elsewhere.

I've heard they want Kenny from the Nets because of his ability to develop young players. Gentry won't stay unemployed long unless he chooses to.

If they get Kenny Atkinson, I would say the decision might make sense. If the other rumors of Lue and Kidd are true this is a horrible mistake by Griffin. I feel for Gentry, personally I would have liked to see him get one more year in NO but it's the nature of the beast.

I guess I thought he had a better head coach record. He has only had 2 winning seasons as a head coach. 510-595 overall.

To be fair to Gentry he has never walked into job that was a winnable situation. 2.5 years of a weirdly constructed Detroit team (wasted Hill and Stackhouse), 3 years at the helm of Peak Donald Sterling Clippers (yikes), 4.5 years in the post Dantoni tear down in Phoenix with another atrocious roster, then the last few years with NO, he survived Dell Demps and his ineptitude and now that he finally had a competent front office I thought he would flourish but I guess not. Maybe MJ will fire Borego and bring Gentry home.

Gentry still gets his contract $$$. I liked his “1,2,3 Cancun” as he walked off.

Borrego has a chance to be really good. I’m always rooting for App alums, but what NO did during the seeding portion of the restart was objectively bad, unfortunately Alvin deserves this. Honestly my pie in the sky situation for him would be something with App fundraising. Highly doubt it happens but one can hope.

In the NBA, the ownership and exec management are huge factors in the success of the program regardless of who is coaching.

That's a bummer for Alvin. I've never been a fan of the Pelicans after they won the Davis lottery over the Hornets, however the video of Alvin reacting to the Zion lottery win is priceless.

I'll hope with you, but Suzanne (Alvin's wife of almost 11 years) is a San Antonio native. I suspect they'll eventually throw down the ol' anchor on the SE coast of Tx within e-z cruise-control access to San Ant.
