I'm pretty sure Cam was never on the field. Doesn't bode well for you when you don't play in Game 1 of the preseason.

Carolina didn't play in Game 1 it appeared. I won't waste another few hours hoping to see Cam play there.

Just like AE, but he's not likely going to be hanging around. At this point, why did they bother.

I feel like Hampton and Hodges are the two safe bets among this rookie class. Pearson is listed as second string FB for GB and had 1 tackle in their game. I have to think he is fighting for a practice squad spot. I have not seen anything good or bad on Hardy. I think he has a real uphill battle due to their OL depth.

Pearson playing special teams is going to help him. He's playing a new position so practice squad is probably good for him to give him NFL level player development at a new position.

I think he's a long shot for sure, but hopefully can sneak on practice squad.

I was thinking practice squad for him like you, like you said. It is hard when changing roles, especially to one that isn’t as prevalent around the league. If he is cut there aren’t many teams who would even have interest in a fullback.

Is it really such a big change for him? - Wasn't he basically an H-Back in many of the sets - FBs rarely run the ball - they block and occasionally catch a pass ---

Absolutely, it's a big change. As the TE, he's typically going to have chip responsibility or stay in and block the edge which is preferably not a great pass rusher.

As a FB, you're responsible for finding the right gap (reads typically a RB has to make) and blowing up first person in said gap.

A h-back is a mix between a TE and tackle. A FB is a mix between a RB and pulling guard.

Here is one definition ---
The H-Back is making a comeback in today's game of football, and for good reason.

It's a versatile football position that allows offenses to deploy different tactics to keep defenses guessing.

The H-Back is a hybrid position -- a combination of a traditional tight end and a traditional fullback.

This is why players who want to become H-Backs need to develop a hybrid set of skills.

They need to be athletic and sure-handed like tight ends, but also big, strong, and not afraid of contact -- like fullbacks.

Absolutely. Nothing here is contrary to what I said.

I don't know enough about the Packers, but would assume they use the FB in a similar fashion as 49ers, Rams, Dolphins, etc as they all come from the same coaching tree. In that offense, the FB is used primarily as a lead blocker but with route responsibilities. Pearson, if he catches on to the lead blocker responsibilities quickly, will be great at that.

But, he has to catch on quick. He was an above average blocker for a receiving tight end, but wasn't a good enough blocker to be an in-line TE.
