“You’re talking about a guy who didn’t play a lot of college football,” Clemens said.
Didn't Peacock just surpass him as number one on the all time receptions list?

Don't like this quote
"Can't help where I came from"

I don't like it either, but in the context I think he is referring to the fact that our offensive scheme is a lot different than the NFL versus some other colleges. We do not run a "route tree" like they do in the NFL. It takes a while to learn when you're used to having a route called and just running it versus adjusting the route on the fly based on what the corner is doing, where the safety is, whether its man or zone, etc, etc. Some College do run NFL-type route trees like USC (Trojans, not Gamecocks) and Bama, others more basic, and we will (rarely) have some option routes, but it is still a big difference. Then again, I could be reading WAAYYY too much into this.

I took it as him joking about being from South Carolina - who knows ---

Here is the passage from the original article.
"Earlier in the season, Quick admitted there was a big adjustment from Appalachian State to the NFL and said he would often be thinking and counting steps while running routes.
He had said, "I can't really explain everything in the playbook, but it's more difficult. Everything about it is just different. You've got to read a lot of different things and you've got to read defenses. I wish I would've known more. But I can't help where I came from. It's about where I'm at right now.""

That quote may or may not be a dig at App but he has straight up been quoted as saying he was never coached at App State. He was making excuses as to why he was a little bit behind in his development. I said this the other day and I say it again, I am so happy for Andrew Peacock for lots of reasons.

I take it the same way, Quick as saying he was not coached at APP to read the defense and adjust to coverage.

Ive kept up with his career since he joined the NFL, and to be honest he seens to be a slow learner, I read that the Rams greatest receiver,Terry Holt, took him under his wing to get him up to speed, but he really , hasn't improved from last year. He has all the talent in the world, but the Rams are only going to be patent for so long. He had better figure it out soon, or he is going to be out of the league, sooner rather than later.

Ha..I saw him in the picture today of the ruckus during the game yesterday. Although stats show 9 players caught pases. I guess Quick wasn't open?

Not sure what the deal is with Quick, don't see why he isn't contibuting every game. He surely has the gifts. He was more involved before Sam Bradford got hurt and that may be part of the answer.

"The writing may be on the wall for both Chris Givens and Brian Quick, with Austin Pettis continuing to show leadership on the field, and Stedman Bailey putting in someone phenomenal work with added snaps. If “effort” has any role in the decision making process, you can almost surely push Givens to the bottom of the list headed into 2014."
Not looking too good for Quick. He better show up next year or he may be joining AE on the FA carousel. There is only so long that "lots of potential" alone is going to keep you in a roster.

agree, if he doesn't become much more productive in fall camp, and show the coaching staff he is ready to contribute, I could see him being cut before the regular season. Shame, all the talent in the world, just doesn't seem to "get it".

and that is not even counting Tevon Austin who was hurt most of the year ---
