I can't link from this phone but the Charlotte Observer has a nice article up on Deandre Presley. I really hope he can stick and do well with the Panthers. He is an humble person and always willing to do what is best to make the team better.

I am convinced Hell has frozen over.......a mea culpa in regards to the Observer's treatment of AE.

But they show no shame in moving yet another ASU QB to receiver--a position he's never played in his entire life. I hope he makes it in spades!

Dre was one of the most unselfish team players ever to play at App. Moved from QB to DB, special teams, whatever was asked of him. I hope he gets a real chance at Carolina and succeeds. A real quality young man and great representative of App.

Amen to that! He was always very polite in the few times I was honored to chat with him, too. He's a well-spoken young man which will serve him well off the field. Go get 'em, Dre!

His straight ahead speed is better than AE's. Wishing the best to both, great players, even better men.

He did play WR on a few occasions at App, I think, in 2009. When he was replaced as AE's backup by Cadet, I remember him catching passes.

I thought the same thing but wasn't sure so I refrained from saying anything.

I remember it the same way you guys do, but I took my queue from DeAndre. He apparently remembers it differently.
Reporter: "When was the last time you were a receiver?"
“Never,” says Presley, who is from Tampa, Fla. “I’ve always been a quarterback.”

Yeah, I read that too (after I posted

). He didn't spend a lot of time at WR that year, so I guess it's about right to say he's always been a QB. He started the year at QB, for all intents and purposes remained the 3rd string QB, and then went back to QB in 2010.

I think it was for one game and he caught maybe one screen and an end around? Very short lived before he got moved to DB. I think it was actually JJ that supplanted him at that point.

From Appstatesports.com:
2009: Presley proved to be one of the team’s top big-play threats down the stretch of the regular season ... he caught only three passes on the year but each went for 20 or more yards ... 29.3-yards-per-reception average was 9.2 yards greater than the next-highest average on the team (B.J. Frazier — 20.1 ypr) ... caught a season-long 43-yard pass from Cadet in the regular-season versus Western Carolina ...
2011:
GP/GS Rec Yds Yds/C TDs Long Avg/G
DeAndre Presley 11-7 5 66 13.2 0 21 6.0
Looks like he caught 8 passes in his App State career.

In 2009 he caught 3 passes for 88 yards - returned 3 punts for 16 yards ---

After the way AE was raked over the coals in Charlotte maybe he's trying to sneak up on em by saying he's not played any WR. Looks that much better when he picks it up quicker.

I am sorry but when I read Rivera's comment I can't help remembering his AE is the MVP of camp last year statement. I hope this is different but I would not put too much stock into it.

I think he got supplanted by Cadet in 2009.
Finished third in the WP vote in 2010.
And then was supplanted by JLJ in 2011.
