Peacock and Miller do pretty well

Unread post by AppFan11 » Sat Aug 09, 2014 9:46 pm

Lions game done. Peacock was the leading receiver 4-43 yds.... was really open most of the second half. Miller a little more of mixed bad but really finished strong.... 2 carries for -6 (1 carry -8) , receiving 2-39 (both catches on scoring drive to win) 2 kor 22yd avg long of 24, and 2 pr avg 14 yd long of 24. Overall pretty good particularly for Peacock .... Miller certainly did enough to hang around and get more chances. Nice job App State.

Miller did fumble away the ball on his first KO return. He was good coming out of the backfield and did put them in good field position with his PR. Peacock dropped his first pass but show some skill in getting open and had some key receptions.

Thought Peacock looked pretty good after that initial drop. Had a sick catch on the sideline, but couldn't get a foot or anything down.

Miller looked rough.

Running back Steven Miller: Had a drop in the first quarter out of the backfield. Appeared to lose the ball on kick return -- and looked like he lost the ball before he hit the ground. Kind of shocking he held on to the ball on his last punt return, when he was annihilated by a Cleveland player on punt coverage. It wasn’t called, but kind of sloppy there. Also got caught running backwards for major lost yardage on a run. He did a decent job of catching the ball in dump-offs late, but overall not a good night for him at all.

Wide receiver Andrew Peacock: Ran pretty nice routes and led Detroit in catches. A bad drop, though, was definitely noticeable. His best catch didn’t count, though, as he leapt in the air on the sideline and was pushed out of bounds. Really athletic play. Has some speed, too. Can make catches as he’s hit, too.

Well I personally thought they both looked very good - yeah, Peacock dropped that first pass but gee it was only his first play in the NFL - after that he was solid - I thought Miller showed excellent bursts of speed - the PR would have gone the distance if not for the diving hit by the defender - for those who didn't see it, his fumble on the KR was after he had gone airborne, was hit and was coming down head first - not like just an ordinary fumble - both will have a tough time making the squad but seem to have good shots at the practice squad ---
