This is the string on here that I don't understand. Heck, we don't even have a thread like this about an actual rival. You guys are just giving these guys free rent while living in your heads. As a former App SA, I don't get it.

Well, as a former App SA, you should know, and treasure, the value of having to go to class to earn your degree.

And call BS on those who don't.

Its their elitist attitude that their own crap doesn't stink. That they are above all rules.

As far as our own rivals, you are correct. Yet there is one big difference. Though I greatly despise Georgia Southern and hate every fiber of their being, I respect them. unc - I have zero respect for them. This thread in and of itself lists many reasons for that lack of respect.

I agree with GaSo, to an extent, only because I will never go to another game AT GaSo because the way me and my children (8 and 10 at the time) were cussed at, had things thrown at us (including one punch) by ADULT fans with security looking on and doing nothing. But snobbishness is the same and can be said for Duke and it's fans (and my gosh are they elitist ... one season a year...), State has flipped their nose at us since Cobb was hired here and show no signs of changing, and the Wake folks here in Winston have that whole "App St? Yeah there a cute little school, good for you" crap down to a science. I just don't see the, I hate to use this word but, infatuation with UNC. Everyone has their thing and I'm not judging, just don't get it.

Oh I certainly do. But back in our day, it was State who was well-known to have "crip classes" for athletes, but every school that recruited me back then, and I mean EVERY, had the one major that those who struggled knew to take. It wasn't to the level that CH took it by NO means, but I had former teammates that ... well they had to go to class and take real tests irregardless. However, I think everyone takes it more seriously and did the right thing in the 30 years that followed ... well, outside of the P5 anyway. ;)

The truly sad part is that losing this game is likely the only punishment the basketball team at UNC-CHeat will face.

There's nothing wrong with having a major with understanding faculty that will work with athletes. But, as you said, then there's what CHeat did.

I do agree with your premise but personally, I want them to have NO JOY in this Final 4
You're right. Watching them walk off after losing when everyone has basically put their name on the trophy would be fun to watch. Sanctions be handed out after would be icing on the cake.
It was fun to watch indeed. I actually watched and fist-pumped the air (like Kirk Gibson!) when the 'Nova three swished! No one was awake but me and it was exhilarating! I'm not a 'Nova bandwagon fan but I am an "ABC" fan.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

It will be interesting to see when the sanctions are handed down and how egregious they will be. It could be that UNC will lose 3 National Titles within a month.

What a great game and a great ending. I don't care about Philadelphia or Villinova, but seeing those smug bastards LOSE when they didn't deserve to play in the tournament in the first place was a perfect way to close out the college basketball season. I feel bad for players like Marcus Paige, a good player and a class act. Brice Johnson is a POS, however. He should have been T'ed up 20 times in this tournament alone.

And to all those grieving on social media: it can't be that hard to deal with when there isn't a UNC degree on your wall.

There are countless reasons to hate UNC and it goes beyond just athletics, however, athletics conversations provides a broad platform. In basketball, they've been cheating since the Frank McGuire days and when Frank McGuire was fired for cheating, they allowed him to appoint his successor, his assistant, the great Dean Smith. It's alleged that the cheating began in 1993. That is likely true and also not true (or distrue if you are a UNC SA). The AFAM prong of the cheating likely started in 1993, however, they've been cheating in other ways regularly since the 50's, all the while claiming to do it the right way, The Carolina Way. Then after being caught with their hand in the cookie jar, they claim that everyone does it. Ok, let's say that everyone does do it. When everyone gets caught, they get punished. UNC believes they are above being punished, that because of their rich history of success, they should get a pass, a history of success obtained through unprecedented cheating, all the while claiming to do it with superior academically gifted athletes.

It's a beautiful April morning, the sun is out,the birds are singing, the Masters is starting, and UNC-Cheat took a dagger to the heart on national TV. It doesn't get much better than that boys!

Of course the UNC fans are whining about refs this morning instead of giving Nova credit for completely shutting down their post game which is what carried them all year. I will say Paige is a classy kid.

Yep = the first thing I read last night after the game was how the refs sucked - The A-holes have never lost a game, EVER - it was always taken from them by the refs or whomever else they can find to blame it on --- Never give the other team credit ...

I did not watch the entire game because I did not care enough. I did watch the first half and in my opinion the game changed after the brief scuffle between I believe it was Johnson and the Nova guy (they got tangled up going for a rebound). There was no call even though the UNC guy elbowed and threw the Nova guy to the floor. However after that every touch was a foul and as much as I hate the cheats it looked like a lot (maybe 8 or 10) in a row went against them. Any way glad they lost and hope they get smacked but not expecting much.

I would have more sympathy for them for the way the refs called the game if UNC wasn't the beneficiary of about 5-10 wins a year due to biased officiating.

I apologize. That is a lie. I would never have sympathy for them. But hey, at least I admitted about lying instead of trying to cover it up.

of course none of them will remember that Jenkins who hit the winning shot spent half the game on the bench because of foul trouble
