Artis Gilmore
Having already done some searches to no avail, can anyone tell me if Gardner-Webb was a junior college when Gilmore played there?

Re: Artis Gilmore
Yes! And for some more additional CBB trivia, one of Gilmore's teammates at GW was a Queens, NYC Irish Catholic kid named Kevin Cantwell. Gilmore transferred to Jacksonville. Cantwell transferred to UNC-A where he met and married a NC girl. Both of those transfers would go on to affect high school and collegiate basketball in North and South Carolina and the south in any number of ways since.

Re: Artis Gilmore
Artis was a JuCo player at GW--they were not yet a 4 year school at the time- He was coached by Eddie Holbrook who later went on to be the head coach at Furman-GW has a strong legacy in basketball through the years. I once roomed with Eddie Lee Wilkins one summer. He played for many years in the NBA.

Re: Artis Gilmore
Actually that's where the topic came up. One of my former African-American football players made a post about Artis Gilmore.

Re: Artis Gilmore
Any need for the excessive adjectives?
There might be, I might be missing some context.

Re: Artis Gilmore
My brother played at Lee’s-McRae at the same time and I remember going to a game in Boiling Springs and seeing him play there
